At the risk of looking foolish. Can i ask which posters here are worth reading. I am new investor and new to this site. I have been left with quite a few shares in a will. I have never owned shares before. Google landed me here.

Sorry for being so ignorant i have much to learn and need to learn fast to avoid mistakes.

Thank you.

Bacteria in the intestine influence motor dysfunction and neuroinflammation in a mouse model of Parkinson’s disease.

By Abby Olena | December 1, 2016

..................“It’s a beautiful study,” Justin Sonnenburg of Stanford University School of Medicine, who did not participate in the work, told The Scientist. “It’s really a first in establishing that gut microbes can not only contribute, but appear to play a causal role in neurodegenerative disease in this mouse model,” he added.................

...................In order to address this question, the authors transplanted human gut–derived microbes from patients with Parkinson’s disease or from healthy controls into germ-free mice. Microbiota from patients with Parkinson’s disease promoted greater motor dysfunction than microbiota from matched controls in transgenic mice, the researchers found. Wild-type mice did not develop motor dysfunction in either transplant condition. Taken together, these findings suggest that Parkinson’s disease–associated microbes can promote symptoms in genetically predisposed animals.

“This is a landmark study because it’s the first proof of concept that you can induce Parkinson-typical symptoms in mice by transferring bacteria from Parkinson’s patients into those mice,” said Filip Scheperjans of Helsinki University Hospital, who was not involved in the work...............

Even more completely O/T

Ha! What an anal lot;¬)

Elrico,

I too transferred my vinyl to tape - hence the Nakamichi to replace an old Tandberg reel to reel.

Now I play the vinyl. Pity my hearing isn't up to snuff!

And, Spike, I've got the Sinclair somewhere, complete in its tatty white plastic case. Was it £80!? Blimey.

Happy days. I'll shut up now.

In January I sold an Elvis LP for £2K, cover was mint. My kids got all excited because I found 82 lp singles in loft, suggested my gouty foot might be a tumour!!! A dry humour that boy of mine has...

Confession: I still have my Betamax (F1)too, and yes - the 3 head Nakamichi, and yes all my vinyl.
I also have what I believe to be the World's first ever electronic pocket calculator, it cost £80! and was made not in Japan, or Korea, or the USA, but by our very own Sinclair. (HP had already bought out a scientific one, but not for the man in the street).

Eh, them was the days.

I still have 8 track tapes in the loft - over 3000 vinyl...all mint because always transferred to tape. I'm waiting for Ozzy to pop his clogs and get another valuation on a one-off signed double white label album. Don't mean that Ozzy...you keep rockin' fella.

re,the post, OPTIBIOTIX A MAGNIFICENT TRADING UPDATE: BUY, he concludes and he has said it before, naturally , but he has to be right at some point,

If just one big household name announces the revenue implications are such that shares will soar. But there are six chances for this. That is why we remain very excited. The shares are a touch ahead today at 64p-65.5p but are a BUY at up to 77p with a target to race past 100p when the big name commercial deals start landing. - See more at: hxxp://www.shareprophets.com/views/25648/optibiotix-a-magnificent-trading-update-buy#sthash.S1PRxhTJ.dpuf

IDP on Aim interesting

As announced on 31 October 2016, the Company has successfully entered the US market and secured retail and online retailer distribution deals for Skinny Tan with GNC Holdings, Inc., Quidsi, Inc., a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. and Jet.com, a subsidiary of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. The Company has also established a US subsidiary in order to accelerate growth in the US market.

In the UK, Skinny Tan was launched at Superdrug in February 2016, and by July 2016 it became the No.1 selling brand in its category by revenue and continues to be in the top three tanning brands by revenue. On 24 October 2016, the Company announced that as a result of the success of Skinny Tan and as part of its expansion plans in UK and Europe, it will be moving a significant part of its production to the UK, from Australia. The production move to the UK is expected to significantly improve the Company's supply chain to its most important growth markets which include the UK and the US. Production in the UK is expected to begin in December 2016.

Aye, 1bokke, I still have my Sony Betamax - and the first 3 head tape deck, the Nakamichi. That was when I could keep up with technology!

And then there were CDs...bloody hell!

Never gave up the vinyl though;¬)

Marne, it's sad that we both remember betamax!! Looking at the article it looks as though Nestle's approach is simply sugar manipulation to reduce calories, whereas Opti have stated that our product has the ability to provide additional health benefits in addition to calorie reduction through combined applications with our other IP. Imagine if you could market chocolate as being the healthy choice in snacks???

Very interesting article and should prompt other mn's to find a novel natural sugar that helps with reducing calorie intake.http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/30/business/nestle-reformulates-sugar-so-it-can-use-less.html

I'm not convinced that there will be any deals before Christmas Parob. The majority of companies tend to close down over the Christmas holidays now, usually two weeks although I accept this does not apply to foreign corporations, and I just don't see anything happening till the New Year. Let's hope 2017 is the Year of the Optibiotix!

"OptiBiotix reports that it has reached late stage commercial discussions with six commercial partners across its technology and product platforms."

So I'm thinking these could be concluded at any time between now and say March/April.

I wonder how many additional discussions with partners are at an early or mid stage. I'm confident there are many. From SOH email to TW back in June:

"We are regularly having 2-3 meets each week with partners across food, consumer goods, and increasingly pharma. A number of these are at DD stage with large corporate teams (10-12) over 2-3 days"

That's the beauty with OPTI - a constant flow of deals can be expected in the future across a varied product pipeline and multiple application areas.

I'm hopeful that one commercial deal will land this side of Christmas.

Spotted this great article today about diet drinks with artificial sweeteners:

"The science of why you might want to kick your diet soda habit"

"The big controversy in this area is whether artificial sweeteners and diet beverages might be contributing to the obesity epidemic and a parallel diabetes epidemic, which is exactly what they’re supposed to help curb," explained Vasanti Malik, a Harvard researcher who has studied diet soda."

Together with general health concerns associated with aspartame, this is exactly why OPTI's sweet natural sugars (that provide a health benefit) could be a mega success. Looking forward to hearing developments on that front too!
