In order to get some peoples blood pressure to that 130/80, the conventional drugs needed to achieve this can put a huge strain on the kidneys... which also happens to be life threatening...... any more ideas?!!

Tomorrow's New York Times:

Under New Guidelines, Millions of Americans Will Need to Lower Blood Pressure

Tens of millions more Americans will qualify for a diagnosis of high blood pressure, and will need to change their lifestyles or take medicines for the condition, under new medical guidelines released on Monday.

Now, high blood pressure, or hypertension, will be defined as 130/80 millimeters of mercury or greater for anyone with a significant risk of heart attack or stroke. By those criteria, nearly half of all American adults, and nearly 80 percent of those aged 65 and older, will need to take steps to reduce their blood pressure.

Any suggestions on what could help?

Wow Parob, what an article!
It really does feel to me, that we are at the very start of a massive transformational shift in potential treatments for all manner of ailments.

I was thinking, if we can use modulated microbiome to Improve our immune system,
could we then possibly use a differently modulated microbiome to Reduce people's immune system?
My wife, and many people we know, has had a transplant (heart & lungs), and as such will always have to take anti rejection drugs (which are designed to Lower the patient's immunity).
ALL of the anti rejection drugs I know of, are actually Toxic, especially to the patient's kidneys.
So much so, that we know of several folk who've had heart transplants, have gone on to need kidney transplants down the line.
IF we could develop microbiome based anti rejection/lower immunity, that would instantly reduce the many many side effects associated with these drugs.
If you think that this is a bit Niche, just think how many people have had organ transplants (not just hearts), and then ALL of these people have to take anti rejection drugs morning and night . . . Every day of the rest of their lives. A ready made ongoing market.
Just a few thoughts.
John

PGlancy - The trades (0-C) we often see at the beginning of the days trades for the same value and quantity at the same price are usually a buy and a sell facilitated by the same broker for 2 different clients, hence why they have no impact on the share price either way.

Mainstream media coverage of the microbiome really picking up. This past week alone has seen articles in the Guardian, The Economist and NY Times:

LPLDL recent tweet:

The microbiome word is getting out there, check out New York Times great article explaining how it can benefit your health

One can only imagine the coverage we’ll receive once the Sweetbiotix story gets picked up. Really hope they float that division on the Nasdaq!

No biggie Elrico and I am actually in the same boat as you. The two year stagnation has allowed me to accumulate way more shares than I ever thought I'd be able to. I continue to suck up the short term pain for the inevitable(!) long term gain.

Yes it is difficult to trade, but if someone can do this then fair play to them! Anyway let's hope we hear some more news soon as I will be glad to get out of this range!

Sorry for mixing you up Shazbo. I have edited my mistake. Personally, I have never criticized anyone for their investment strategy. The goal is to pit your wits which Mr Market and and hope to make money - that is not an easy task no matter the talent or skillset. Good luck to the day traders, I have no problem with them at all. I trade myself, but never frequently. It has become rarer these days. Had it not been for the traders I would have fewer shares in OPTI and SBTX, so I'm very grateful for the opportunity for my longer term strategy, because if truth be known, I'm not so good at trading and never claimed to be.

I can't see how traders will be on the "wrong side" unless people are expecting OPTI to go down; which posters don't appear to be. Unless some traders are shorting; which I don't imagine they are.

I do agree traders may not maximise profits on OPTI, if they were to be caught out by any large spike up.

Shazbo - what we are trying to say is that long term holders will always make more money. Traders will be on the wrong side sooner or later, yes you can talk about Opti being range bound for 2 years but in the long term the LTH will make more money!

I mean, each to their own. It's up to people what they do with their money. If some are smart enough to trade and make lots of profit, good for them. But I think there's some traders out there, trading small amounts, walking away with tiny profits, that perhaps would benefit more from playing a longer term game. IMO :)

Elrico, you're getting me and nimrod mixed up. I've never held SBTX and don't trade (no time, skill, balls for it). I'm a long term holder of Opti and a true believer but I honestly thought I was missing something as many have been critical on here of traders making money and somehow 'missing out'. I just didn't get the criticism of someone actually making money, and I didn't get the 'missing out' part and to be truthful I still don't!

It not a fear, it's more of an observation traders will almost certainly lose rights. The fact is, some peeps like to think they're good trades, much the same way I think I'm Warren Buffett ;)

The fact is, for those of us that have been happy to accumulate over time will most likely have made the more substantial gains....assuming LTH don't sell too early and there lays another key objective. When is x profit enough and the fear of missing out on the next share set to make us a millionaire. Most investors don't have the courage to hold for years. Traders have their own rules. Nimrod (edit), you confessed to selling SBTX most like because you actioned a stop, fine, you manage your money how you see fit, but in time you will like so many OPTI traders will realise a tactical error that cost money.

IMHO - OPTI investors have nothing to fear but fear itself....there's a song in there somewhere. ;)

Louncheact - It is my understanding OPTI plan to have their own e-commerce site dedicated to their own branded products ImmunBiome, WellBiome, OptiBiome and CardioBiome, among others. SOH believe these should represent 10-12% of sales revenues for the group. Not insignificant because these will be at MUCH HIGHER margins - ie. no wholesaler costs because these are now yours.
