You also get a dividend allowance each year. You only pay tax on any dividend income above the dividend allowance. You do not pay tax on dividends from shares in an ISA . |
Posted at 24/11/2021 21:59 by whatja Now the unbundling is done we can focus on the OMU business. The recent trading update was mixed and the market reaction has been negative. I am hoping the pandemic will ease with hotter weather but I e pect there will be more provisions and loan write downs to come. Waiting for the FY results in March before buying back in. |
Posted at 04/11/2021 14:01 by turbocharge At what price does the new OMU become an attractive proposition? |
Posted at 26/10/2021 13:29 by whatja 3 Nov is the last day to buy/hold for the unbundling.4 Nov is buy back OMU without 10-11p per share of NEDBANK. |
Posted at 07/4/2021 10:32 by whatja Now appears to be a decent time to add new money to OMU.Of course it all depends on the prospects of a bounce back in South Africa. The last results were pretty dire, but barely moved the share price which has started to move upwards again.... Some momentum will bring 70p...hoping for 80p later this year. |
Posted at 31/1/2020 14:42 by stpalm long time with no posts, anyone holding? divi sustainable?? |
Posted at 15/4/2019 15:57 by peterbill Noticed there was tax taken off the recent Nedbank divi ... will be looking at selling these too as don't think we can reclaim the tax?? |
Posted at 15/10/2018 18:54 by goldry I've been trying to understand the position and this is my understanding. The Nedbank share distribution happened today based on about 3.21 Nedbank Shares per 100 OMU share. The fractional number of shares were sold off as a job lot today and all OMU shareholders will receive the proceeds based on the notice from 11th October with details of price and exchange rate. That should be in accounts this week(?).Anyone with a holding of less than 100 Nedbank Shares will have their shares bought back at mid market rates during the first few days of December + 5%. This happens on 3rd December subject to shareholder approval. You have to elect to keep the shares if you want them and your holding is less than 100. |

By Adam Clark Old Mutual Ltd. (OMU.LN) said Friday that it will pay a special dividend, after reporting a slight increase in first-half profit amid tough market conditions in South Africa and Zimbabwe. The African financial-services company said its adjusted headline earnings--which strip out certain exceptional items--rose 1% to 5.39 billion rand ($367.0 million) from the year-earlier half. The company said it delivered the profit growth despite a weak economic environment in South Africa, and political uncertainty in Zimbabwe. Old Mutual's net profit rose 42% to ZAR10.65 billion, driven by an exceptional accounting gain from the sale and distribution of shares in U.K. wealth-management business Quilter PLC (QLT.LN) in June. The company declared a special dividend of 100 South African cents a share from excess capital. This comes on top of a normal interim dividend of 45 South African cents a share, representing 40% of adjusted headline earnings a share. Old Mutual said its total funds under management rose 2% to ZAR1.1 trillion as of June 30, driven by net client cash flows of ZAR9.4 billion. Life-insurance sales, as measured by annual premium equivalent, rose 13% to ZAR5.81 billion. |
