29/11/2024 16:18 | Brucie5 - I have a few of those :- CLIG,DEC,HFEL,MNG,PH In a similar vein, I hold ABDN, AV.,HICL,LGEN,SDV,SR I also (still) hold too many AIM stocks. | skinny
29/11/2024 16:06 | carping - yes, hfel-hfel: I always mix up the order! Nice dividend through today. I take it you're not (primarily) a dividend investor as I seem to see the shares I hold in many of folios sharing my objectives. | brucie5
29/11/2024 15:36 | Brucie5 - assume hefl is hfel? Only one I hold from your list and my second biggest holding behind DLG. HFEL has provided me with good dividends for a few years and always reinvested making that holding grow quite nicely each year... still under water on it mind! I do hold BRWM having took a position earlier this year. | carpingtris
29/11/2024 15:11 | Bruciefolio very marginally up on the day (+.11%)as against the HIX (.-1) and IUKD (.02), while Allshare is down -.26% as I write. APAX, ASHM, CAML, CLIG, CSN, DEC, DUKE, GCP, GSF, HEFL, LGEN, LIO, MNG, NESF, OSB, PHNX, POLR, RCH, REC, RECI, SBLK, SEIT, SERE, SOHO, SNWS, SQZ, SUPR, TFIF, VSL. Above is my Rogues' Gallery at end of November, which I offer for comment, criticism, or to ignore completely. My spreadsheet gives an overall yield of 10.6, which I'm happy to discount by up to 20% on expectation of some almost inevitable cuts to yields, notably @LIO and @VSL. SQZ, GSF also have question marks, though I'm broadly happy with the underlying case. In the interest of diversification and perhaps a kind of OCD fetish about round numbers, I'm looking to add a 30th holding which will be more about growth, if somewhat less about dividend. I'm conflicted between JGGI, which has had an excellent four years, but has become possibly too large; and BRWM, which has recently languished but I think will come into its own as the energy transition gears up. Happy to receive ideas! | brucie5
29/11/2024 12:06 | It's only one week, but these are big drops on last year. While Storm Burt might have been a significant contributor, lost card sales of this magnitude are going to be hard to recover and the shipping trend is not an isolated week - its numbers have looked poor for months. (Middle East War?) Aggregate UK credit and debit card payments increased by 4% in the week to 22 November 2024 compared with the previous week but decreased by 16% when compared with the equivalent week of 2023. (Media reporting shopping footfall down 10% but not the larger spending fall?) When compared with the same week of 2023, the total number of ship visits decreased by 13%, while visits from cargo and tanker ships decreased by 17%. | aleman
29/11/2024 11:13 | Morning everyone. Late on parade. Could not drag myself out of bed this morning. Another frosty one but the sun is out. MrP I've done that dropping the bird food thing before :-) Quiz = 2/7 | philanderer
29/11/2024 09:49 | My lot pretty much even so far today with plenty of small up's and down's. The Greg Wallace thing looks to be a bit OTT but I guess that's where we are these days. | mrphil
29/11/2024 08:58 | BA. down SPI up, no idea why in both cases.Otherwise not a lot of movement either way with the rest, | malcolm caton
29/11/2024 08:53 | 2/7 Guessed here too. | carpingtris
29/11/2024 08:48 | Looking at my inbox, it seems like every one has jumped on the 'black friday' band wagon - thank you USA. | skinny
29/11/2024 08:46 | Morning 4/7, better, even knew some. This morning's plunger is BA. My renewable portfolio, so far completely misfired has been bolstered with purchases of UKW and FSFL. | blueliner
29/11/2024 08:02 | Mornung. 2/7 correct guesses. No frost here . | malcolm caton
29/11/2024 07:37 | Morning All. Managed 0/7 this week, says it all really! The day started well when I dropped the bird food on the hallway mat. Tin with niger seeds, tin of peanuts and a pot of mixed seed which all managed to find every corner imaginable! | mrphil
29/11/2024 07:14 | Good Morning. Another frosty start. It would seem another bid from Aviva is in the wings. 3/7. | skinny
28/11/2024 19:22 | I'm up just 0.017% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.078%). Best rises: ADM +3.04%, TSCO +2.32% and SSE +1.91%. Worst falls: IMB -2.35%, AV. -2.00% and S32 -1.66%. Insurances made the obvious moves. Another nice ride from TSCO. Boiler service and inspection tomorrow. I'm a believer in not touching them if they are running well. Unfortunately the warranty requires it. We enjoyed our curries at Wetherspoons. Very cold out, though. DF | deanforester
28/11/2024 18:37 | I finished up 0.17% despite the efforts of AV and a couple of XDs. Well done to holders of DLG - its about time some of us had one of those! Just back from an extended school run due to traffic problems - this corner of the country is becoming a driving total nightmare - even compared to a couple of years ago. It looks like the knives are out for Gregg Wallace now - not my favourite character but you do have wonder where this will all end. | skinny
28/11/2024 17:57 | Share buy-backs can come with high execution costs. | aleman
28/11/2024 17:42 | +0.08% folio, [FTSE All-Share +0.16%] AV. the inevitable big faller. Just seen DLG share price welldone those holders. XD's for BRWM, PMGR. ENSI, SSE, PLUS, PHNX, material risers. Very early start this morning, managed to avoid car being caked in frost, by parking completely under cover. -2C | blueliner
28/11/2024 17:32 | -0.1%. Well done to those with DLG. It was a frosty, sunny morning but high cloud covered over in the afternoon. It felt very cold with the slight, damp breeze. Frost and ice had lingered in the shade, when I decided to go for a short ride to the next village after lunch, as had some bits in the garden when I got back. I had a multiple bell-ringing and then repeated polite shouting session to try get past one guy on a narrow bit of cyclepath that had lots of soggy leaf hazard (again) which I eventually had to risk. He had ear-buds in when I went passed, and he completely ignored me, but did not jump or even look at me, so I'm pretty sure he knew I was behind him. People behave so oddly these days. Though standing around was tolerable, the windchill when cycling had a full-on winter feel. I started to defrost a well-iced freezer while I was out and attacked it in ernest when I got back. I put the contents outside for over two hours in a big shopping and it was fine, actually adding frost to the top stuff. 4.0C after -2.0C. | aleman
28/11/2024 17:23 | Holder of AV. too its only I hold a shed load more of DLG so will be happy to get that off my books (hopefully soon) and split into new investments. | carpingtris
28/11/2024 17:07 | Well done on DLG, maybe share your gains with us holders of AV. 😁 A couple of good risers today, SSE & SBRY to name a couple, but not enough to get into positive territory. -0.07% AV., DEC & FSFL Just spotted something strange on one of the company mobiles. A charge of £76.55 for one item of data when all the rest were free as it should be included. Not sure what on earth it was, quite a small file and only around 4 minutes. Will need to investigate further before quizzing the member of staff! | mrphil
28/11/2024 17:05 | Yes, almost unchanged as well -£25 :-) nothing much moving. Bitter cold day but sunny 4C . I think I've completed the final clearing up of the leaves. Wrapped up and did a three mile local walk finishing as it got dark - brass monkey weather. Spaghetti and meatballs in a chilli tomato sauce . Bottle of merlot. | philanderer |
