22/2/2024 16:13 | Ofgem price cap expected to announced with a fall from £1926 to £1656 tomorrow. This 14%+ fall (not everybody pays this exactly, of course) will push 12-month CPI down sharply in April. Edit - It looks like there's a new model Swift coming in so they probably have old model stock to shift before it's second hand price drops. | aleman
22/2/2024 16:08 | Batchelors Suzuki keep texting me to buy a new car at just £1 more than they buy it in for in a rather narrow time-limited offer. I take it new Suzukis are not selling well but they are still close to their February sales target. I think most new cars make the profit in the add-ons these days, rather than actual profit on the car, so it's probably not as enticing as it sounds. They're being persistent, though! | aleman
22/2/2024 16:02 | DrB - I was spared the school runs as my daughter left work early - thankfully as it is stair rods here still. A decent turnaround on LLOY after the earlier reaction to results. | skinny
22/2/2024 15:17 | CPI only up 0.4% over the 9 months since April so inflation will have to take off at 0.5% per month in the next 3 months if it is not going to fall below target, yet the last 3 months annualise at -3.0%. ECB minutes All in all, members signalled that continuity, caution and patience were still needed, since the disinflationary process remained fragile and letting up too early could undo some of the progress made. While the initial inflation shock had largely reversed, the task that lay ahead was the reversal of second-round effects, which might prove to be more stubborn. At the same time, members expressed increased confidence that inflation would be brought back towards the 2% inflation target in a timely manner. | aleman
22/2/2024 13:36 | Good luck with that skinny. Rained on & off all day here. Played tennis in shorts and Tshirt last, somewhat unusual for a feb evening. Folio having a good day with MRL/MEGP outperforming. | dr biotech
22/2/2024 12:09 | Raining all morning here, just at various rates. I've got a tricky 2 school runs today as I'm on my own and will have to take a 3 year old with me - so I could do with an hour of respite from the rain! The forecast lows have been marked down until Tuesday. | skinny
22/2/2024 11:52 | Been hammering down here all morning and no sign of stopping. Miserable. | philanderer
22/2/2024 11:22 | Maybe that's why so many other cars want to share a lane with my car just lately! And I'm talking about when it's not busy. Night driving used to be pretty calm until a couple of years ago yet now they do a lot of disturbing things when they think there are few witnesses. Rain stopped. but still grey. | aleman
22/2/2024 11:17 | Cold, but beautiful sunny day up here. Sun beginning to feel warm at last.Blue skies and even a fair bit of blue on the portfolio | gateside
22/2/2024 10:48 | Mild & wet here again, we're getting about 12°C during the day and 10°C at night. We gave up fighting the moss in our lawns a few years ago, at least it generally stays green and things do live in it! DEC seems to be creeping up nicely. | mrphil
22/2/2024 10:36 | Morning. A damp and cold morning here. Portfolio blue so far thanks mainly to RR, and PLUS,more blues than reds worst fallers HAT,BGO | malcolm caton
22/2/2024 10:00 | Morning everyone. Still overcast and raining. Slight bounce for the miners but portfolio still red. Aleman , I agree , never seen so much moss. | philanderer
22/2/2024 09:30 | Our garden is flooded at the bottom again and water squelches up through the soil as you walk on it at the top. The top is not usually affected like this but it is much more mossy than at the end of a typical winter. And up goes the Ouse in York again: | aleman
22/2/2024 09:02 | Morning All. So LLOY posts a 57% increase in profit, no wonder the shares have fallen! Roads totally gridlocked again around here this morning, "Smart" M27 closed for four junctions after a crash yesterday in which a lorry driver sadly died. Car drivers arrested on suspicion of causing death by reckless driving, sounds like it was an altercation at some roadworks. Around half of our staff have so far failed to make it in, some have already given up after two hours and are attempting to return home. Very sad for the poor guy involved, but we must be able to do better than this? Another local drama, our favourite seafront pub/restaurant has burned down overnight! | mrphil
22/2/2024 08:45 | Good morning. Cold rain. So the Nikkei has just about quadrupled in the last decade while the FTSE100 has risen 10%. | aleman
22/2/2024 00:51 | What an embarrassing shambles in Parliament tonight. Nothing achieved whatsoever but another step along the road to religious sectarianism . Going to turn very ugly in the near future. | philanderer
21/2/2024 19:28 | BIRD - leave something now? No advice,. BWTFDIK | sideshowbull
21/2/2024 17:24 | I'm down -0.196% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.737%). Worst falls: VOD -1.65%, RIO -1.51% and SMDS -1.30%. Best rises: WDS +1.74%, BT.A +1.64% and BP. +0.83%. Results from RIO and BA. today seemed to do neither any good. BT.A selling the Post Office Tower presumably helped. Our magnolia is suffering in this wind and rain, lots of buds on the grass. Went for a pub lunch today, taking a different route to avoid traffic lights in the High Street, only to find more on the other road. Good food. DF | deanforester
21/2/2024 17:23 | I may have outrun the indices -0.12% [FTSE All-Share -0.61%] but still red for a third day in a row . HSBA, BA., on results & worst fallers. A tale of inflation busting dividend raises, whereas miners dividends RIO, GLEN on results went the opposite way. ENSI, WDS, PLUS, BT.A, leading gainers. I blame Gordon Brown for smashing the dividend tax credit system. | blueliner
21/2/2024 17:23 | Finished down 0.14% Worst fallers C4XD,ENT,BGO,EQLS,BA Best risers MSHL,SNR,HFN,3IN, | malcolm caton
21/2/2024 17:20 | Glad to hear you are making the most of your "home alone" Skinny! Managed a small gain today, +0.07% thanks to FSFL, CURY & DEC, all of which still owe me money! Roads are apparently all gridlocked around here following a fatal accident at lunchtime which closed our delightful Smart motorway. | mrphil |
