exel agreed...There seems to be a lot of buying this morning ahead of full year results which must be very imminent. They were on 20th July last year so anytime now I guess. News on the Loomis trials cannot be too far away either...

davidosh - Thanks for your inputs on CIT and ATM crime. Europe (incl. UK) looks like a large market. We should receive an update on that new (cash protection) product area with the forthcoming finals. Looking back, Newmark's release dates have been 16th July in 2007 & 2008 and 20th July last year (2009). We have not been given a date yet, but I would guess that it might be somewhere in the week after next, or so. Best wishes, ex

Some interesting stats...

Cash in Transit ("CIT")

Every day, the security UK industry transports well over £1 billion in cash in
a fleet of some 3,500 vehicles. There were 1,033, 1,059, and 1,000 robberies on
vehicles or cross-the-pavement incidents in 2006, 2007 and 2008 respectively
with total sums stolen of £20.7 million, £18.3 million and £19.4 million
respectively (BSIA statistics).

ATM Crime

Europe has approximately 384,000 cash machines, with over 58,000 of these
located in the UK.

Physical attacks on European ATMs have fallen by 2 per cent. when compared with
2008 (down from 2,520 to 2,468 incidents), primarily due to a decrease in the
number of reported ram raids and ATM burglaries. Despite this drop in
incidents, overall losses rose seven per cent. to €28 million (up from €26
million in 2008).

ATM crime in Europe jumped to €485 million (£423 million) in 2008 following a
149 per cent. rise in attacks on cash machines.

I suspect there will be a few buyers ahead of final results and newsflow on the trials with loomis. There should be news on that with the next month if the 12 weeks finish mid July as expected and then hopefully big contracts on successful completion.

GENERAL UPDATE

The Company intends to raise its global portfolio of mining property assets by looking to acquire assets in Asia by leveraging current relationships.

Over the past year, NWT has made significant progress in Vietnam.
In September 2009, NWT was invited to join in several meetings held by a delegation of Vietnamese officials, led by the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam.

After studying numerous properties, NWT has successfully managed to narrow down its selection to a few properties the Company deems valuable.

On February 5, 2010, the Company was granted approval to conduct preliminary survey and exploration of the minerals in Cam Quang Tri province in Vietnam, covering an area of approximately 1,500 square kilometres.

The Company is completing preliminary investigations on the property to confirm historical resource data.

It is anticipated that there are copper, gold , iron ores and other mineral reserves on this property.

NWT is currently looking into several other properties and companies in Vietnam for the purposes of exploration or collaboration on exploration properties.

NWT continues to negotiate with high level government officials as well as government mining ministry officials on NWT's involvement in Vietnam to build value in the country that goes beyond exploration and the future extraction of just a few properties.

The management team has met with Vietnamese officials as well as a delegation lead by the chairman of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission and continues its discussion of NWT's future involvement ...

given events and price movements elsewhere, over the past few weeks or so, this stock seems pleasingly untroubled by those wider market jitters. people often rush to post (not necessarily here) when an share price plunges for no apparent reason (as has happened elsewhere during the past few days - FTO for example - and as has happened here in the past, last year's savage dip being an example) but it should not go unremarked that the NWT rating has stood up well in the face of wider market difficulties, this time around. maybe that points to a lack of sellers, many solid holders (many of them recent), a tightly held stock, and to a growing realisation that the fundamentals to underpin a higher rating are starting to come together here, after many years of solid careful work by this group. ex

thanks Steg, useful input. also, a very good RNS update today, with no negative content (at all) apart from the (to be expected) reference to the state of the UK economy, more generally. being picky, it could perhaps also have been reiterated that much of Newmark's output finds its way overseas, via complex and wide distribution channels, so the group is not 'entirely dependent' on the (weak-ish) UK economy, alone. anyway, for a post-close update at this stage, it could not really have been much more positive. better to leave at least some positive surprises for the prelims. ex

Newmark Security (NWT, 1.825p, £8.22m) Trading update for the year ending April 2010 has continued the first half trends with good performances in Asset Protection and the Electronic divisions – so the group will meet market expectations (PBT £1.6m, 0.31p EPS and 0.03p DPS). With growth expected in the 2011 year we continue to rate the shares as a BUY with a 2.4p price target.

Great Summary Davidosh looks like my 3 year hold will bear fruit in the end,
love the share price to have some weakness so i can buy more, but i doubt that it will

The management have prooved to be very shrewd here over the years, i wont count my chicks b4 they have hatched but with the recent acquisition i really could get wealthy on this one...

Looks like the directors are hoovering up all the shares at 1.8p + that come on the market, probably why the update was a bit subdued as they didn't want the share price to fly just yet.

This company is going from strength to strength and has today issued a trading update which looks very positive. The important paragraph for shareholders as the company is on a low rating and forecasts show steady growth states....

At the time of the Company's Interim Results announced on 18 December 2009, the Board highlighted that with the number of projects in hand, the prospects for the second half were extremely encouraging. Trading in the Asset Protection (Safetell) and Electronic (Grosvenor Technology) divisions has been good and in light of this, the Board expects to meet market expectations for the full year.

The chairman Maurice Dwek also seems confident for the future with " we look forward to the future with confidence particularly with the very exciting potential of our recent investment in technology in the cash-in-transit market."

The exciting potential is in the form of the recent acquisition they made in ATMPUK which owns the rights to a bonding system that will form the basis of a comprehensive solution to protect cash and valuables in all aspects of cash delivery in the CIT (cash in transit) vehicles during transit and across the pavement to customer premises and free standing ATMs.

Safetell a division of Newmark Security will build the T9 security containers at their premises in Dartford.

Commenting on the acquisition, Maurice Dwek, Chairman of Newmark Security plc, said: "ATMPUK estimate the potential market in UK and Europe for the cash protection system to exceed £75 million. I am therefore delighted that Newmark will be taking an active part in this exciting new security development which will bring further expansion to the scope of the Group's operations and scale of activities."

That would be company changing if those trials are successful and today the company have shown they already have a very good business that has achieved growth in difficult market conditions. Without any inclusion of the new acqisition the broker forecast was for 20% growth in earnings this year and eps of 0.35 and the p/e comes out at five. If and always a big 'if' with trials being undertaken they are successful and the new product becomes accepted as an industry standard then not only will those forecasts need huge revision going forward but I cannot see this company remaining independent for too long.

As we move forward Maurice Dwek is very confident but is also in his 70th year and sadly the chief executive died last year which will have been a shock to all associated with the company. He has not been replaced to date and the beneficiaries of the Estate of the late Alex Reid with a significant holding in NWT may or may not have long term vision for the company but I am sure they are monitoring the situation.

I like Newmark. There is steady growth forecast as we come out of the downturn and the company has a new exciting product with a better than evens chance of success IMO that would be company changing. The company structure and board dynamics also suggests a very reasonable chance of an exit strategy that will be very rewarding for shareholders and in the meantime it does of course pay a dividend. I am very relaxed holding Newmark and looking forward to the Agm in a couple of months or so which coincidentally should also be when the initial trials are completed...Exciting times.

Potential to supply the wider CIT market
Assuming the Loomis trials are successful, we would expect other CIT companies to take an
interest in this technology. ATMPUK estimates that the market for its cash protection technology in
Europe and the UK could exceed £75m.
