04/2/2008 10:17 | compare to wkp chart | mike24
01/2/2008 18:41 | ok, i got it wrong above actually, oops, the trades im talking about are the AT trades (im away from the normal computer with the lv2 software on today) forgot about them. the rsp trades are the o ones yes. there was a constant movement of 13700 shares i seem to remember from yesterday from the traders. wish i could do that well but tried it and got stuffed when the price moved the wrong way, you learn from mistakes and i dont deal in big enough quantity to move it back my way. think this could be a good level to get back in at, but the big money will proberly wait to see what the next results are and how they compare to the other funds, or if the general markets go back up we should follow | motoben
01/2/2008 17:10 | Retail Service Provider. A market maker who deals with retail customers through brokers - esp cheap brokers - who do not deal on the exchange proper. These are O trades, as distinct from the AT Automated Trades on the LSE. Post MIFID there is also NT - Negotiated - where RSP deals by phone not computer. | scribbler101
01/2/2008 16:19 | sorry no idea what an RSP is and the screen only shows 'o' trades, its not the best service from etrade as its free, but i used to see different ones before mifid changed it all. | motoben
01/2/2008 14:48 | motoben - what you describe may be an RSP covering its deals in the market. What trade types show? | scribbler101
01/2/2008 13:03 | if you watch the trades on a lv2 screen you would see that there is a lot of day trading going on, just after a buy trade the exact amount pops up for sale a few seconds later. this keeps the price level until a new big trader turns up. | motoben
01/2/2008 10:52 | G6, I think that's right and this is how it's likely to be until we have some news. I feel the drop has been a bit overdone and even on a level general market background the share price should inch ever so slightly higher as . BUT, given the first whiff of even a modest bit of positive news then we won't see 100p again. | fillipe
01/2/2008 08:58 | Seems to be a bit of a battle going on between buyers and sellers at the moment. | gooner6
30/1/2008 10:34 | I think I'm goig to hold off a few days...they may get into low90's again | undertaker
29/1/2008 20:07 | Deutsche is purely the custodian bank for the shares held by the end investor - in this case Tilney Asset Management - who have been cutting their stake. They prob'ly can't afford to take any more pain given their large stake in NSAM and are being forced to cut risk and/or raise cash to meet redemptions from their own investors. So much for buy low, sell high........ | thedinnerlady
29/1/2008 17:23 | This my thinking also....and don't forget that they paid a lot of their Non-frontoffice staff in shares and share options (no yearly cash bonuses)....their will be a lot of very demoralised staff....especially the ones who came over from Jupiter... some admin staff were sitting on some hefty option packages which have lost a sh1t load of value! | undertaker
29/1/2008 12:38 | Undertaker who knows what the next few weeks or months hold but NSAM has certainly in my view been grossly oversold at current levels. Duffield doesnt like to loose money and as one of the largest shareholders I would expect him to be taking action to turn around the Companys fortunes. | macsam
29/1/2008 12:19 | Thinking of buying thes for my ISA....now a good entry point or should I wait a bit? | undertaker
29/1/2008 11:43 | moboten - I don't know the current rules for MM holdings, and how they relate to other holdings in the same group. Anyone know a good source of reference for this? | scribbler101
29/1/2008 10:34 | could it also be that deutsche bank is an mm for the company and any transactions for that part of the business affects the amount held in total | motoben
28/1/2008 20:51 | It would also be useful if they had to show beneficial interests split from portfolio/nominee holdings! It is quite likely that the apparent reduction in Deutsche interest is simply people selling unit trusts! | scribbler101
28/1/2008 19:17 | scribbler thank you very much i found the statement incomprehensible but as some were talking of a bid i wondered?? Thank you for answering | atlantic1953
28/1/2008 18:53 | A1953 - decreasing - compare last 2 RNSs. Quite an achievement of the FSA to make these announcements incomprehensible isn't it! I often give up and phone the number helpfully provided to ask what they mean! | scribbler101
28/1/2008 18:42 | Hi can Someone explain what deutsche bank are doing are they increasing or decreasing theire stake. Thanks ? | atlantic1953
22/1/2008 20:56 | I bought these for the long term and until recently had faith that they would do well. I have no doubt that given time they will. However I have been stung before (Whittard of Chelsea)when on the strength of a bad set of figures the company was sold at a giveaway price. Just two questions :- If the figures are so dire why does anyone perceive any value and why if they perceive value can't this be realised by the current owners ? | bobb49
22/1/2008 09:34 | New Star share price has held up well yesterday and today. Given the carnage in the market this suggests a floor price of 100p and the possibilty of some decent gains once/if some positive sentiment (liquidity) comes back into the market. I am reasonably satisfied to have got in at sub 100p and look forward to making decent returns in future. | gazzastrip

21/1/2008 13:01 | mike24 - 21 Jan'08 - 11:17 - 123 of 123 20/1 Lex even if hopes the worst is over in UK comm prop proves to be justified ....... we are only in the the 2nd qtr of a downturn, the 97 slump in HK, lasted till 1st qtr 02, even then locals were asking is it safe to start buying again, ==================== LOL you complete deramping idiot, if you want to short stock do a better job. So the 97 downturn only finished in 2002 ? So 9/11 was all part of the 1997 stock market downturn ? The market rose from 1997 all the way up to 9/11 when it dropped below 6000 for the first time in nearly 3 years. Take your pathetic lies elsewhere !!! | ihavenoclue
21/1/2008 11:17 | 20/1 Lex even if hopes the worst is over in UK comm prop proves to be justified ....... we are only in the the 2nd qtr of a downturn, the 97 slump in Hong Kong, lasted till 1st qtr 02, even then locals were asking is it safe to start buying again, edit the uk prop boom started mid nineties, and should have peeked 02 the rate drop after 9/11 accelererated the residentual boom ihaventgotaclue read john talbots books | mike24
21/1/2008 11:15 | There's this little problem... HedgeWorld: "New Star's prospects are worsened by the borrowing undertaken last summer to return capital to shareholders. Citi estimated the firm has net debt of £250 million or slightly above the firm's £237 million market capitalization...Wit | liquidkid |
