Knowing how often the market is ignorant and neurotic at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if the fall in share price is because energy companies' share prices are under pressure because of falling oil prices. I can believe there are many ignorant investors who think NG sells electricity.

This share is vastly oversold. It's Obvious the Hedge Funds are trying to get their Christmas bonus in on time.

Wouldn't it be nice if Steve Holliday announced something that would cause world markets to buy NG in a frenzy and lock out the Hedge Funds who sold out for short term gain? Especially if it also puts some Hedge Funds out of business!

a chance to buy on the dips, I've bought in with a target
of making 12.5% p,year + divi re-invested, long term target sp
to double after 7/8yrs and then use to reduce 25yr mortgage debt, by half

Rise seemed to coincide with a report of cheaper crude oil prices.

What energy policy? The Decc is a bunch of madmen as far as I'm concerned. The government seems to pacify the greens (who know nothing about sensible energy policy) and consequently, after a few years of such direction, we end facing powercuts together with very expensive electricity. Until the government take note of energy experts from the industry (who have been ignored by all recent governments), nothing will improve.

Having said that, I don;t think any criticism of energy (misdirected) policy can result in the ngc - who simply implement government policy, however deregulated they try to appear - share price going down. I don't see the connection.

Drop is probably due partly to the paper from the Reform think tank which is highly critical of UK energy policy. I quote "vast ramshackle Public Private Partnership combining the worst of all worlds - state direction of investment funded by high cost private sector finance". We now have state handouts and/or price supports on almost every type of generation! I agree with them completely.

The drop this morning is reminiscent of going ex-div, but that can't be right, so what ???

Initial drop was 10p and its now only 13p - yep, I'd call that 'hardly dented'.

Eh? The divi is 14.7p and according to my screen NG. is currently down 18.5p. That's divi plus, Simon, not 'hardly dented'.
