Happy to build out my holding at these levels.
The divi is a healthy one and I don't think another look at 1000 is too far away either.
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
Morgan Stanley downgraded the European utility sector to ’in-line’ from ’attractive’.
‘With a finely balanced risk-reward outlook for 2025 amidst multiple uncertainties, we move our sector view to in-line. We prefer electricity networks, and would be selective elsewhere.’
National Grid, down 0.6%, remains its top pick. |
This is my largest holding by value (13 years in this form) and I'd agree - a nice and relaxed income stream. |
My value in this is the max I want in any single share, otherwise I'd be buying more. Just take the divis and use those for trading, not ng. itself imv. A unique way of getting rich slowly imv, no other share like it. |
This was the star of my portfolio a few weeks back, now it's the dog :) |
Yes, agreed. |
I will take that #Skinny.. :o), a slow burner this share over the next decade on infrastructure growth and locked in price increases, doubled down in the RI, sit back, watch and wait.. :o) |
FWIW and that will do me in the next 12 months :-
Bank of America cuts National Grid price target to 1,200 (1,230) pence - 'buy' |
There was a very detailed financial spend a few months ago iirc in the rights prospectus. So many numbers it would take a month to digest them all. All with the regulator's approval, which is about the only thing which matters. The spending, many billions, will simply earn a return as it's spent.
Must be the safest and most visible company in the ftse with a high and growing dividend (after the recent rebase, to keep shareholder returns in balance with other cash providers) |
PH - Freighting but great for NG etc.
It's all in the numbers and there's not much numerical stuff about for the people. Still agree whatever happens NG should do well as the electrons need to get to where they do the work.
BTW - seems quite frequent to hit an EV charge stand that doesn't deliver. I assume the stand can be controlled to limit electricity demand? Not experience myself but I'm told by friends who have EV's. |
AI and power required. Frightening but great for NGBBC News - Electricity grids creak as AI demands soar - BBC NewsHTTps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj5ll89dy2mo |
Sold a chunk @1000. |

Can we break ten pounds today... |
viscount: fixed income markets reflect this too |
Makes sense. |
(And NG. better than most because of USD earnings.) |
I think the price move is a result of poor UK economic news today which has hit sterling and increased the probability of a rate cut. So all high yielding defensive stocks look better. |
I take it a sector upgrade / rethink - SSE, SVT & UU also well up. |
