WALMART. Couldn't have got anyone bigger.

Would not be surprised with a quick move back to 50p+, extremely undervalued now.

There are lots of big companies trying to prove their ESG credentials by selling refurbished goods like Walmart. The market is already served on eBay and Amazon. The pie will be split further unless the end consumer wants to buy more second hand products. Most CD's DVD's, books and video games are worth pennies. More valuable second hand games already have a market.
Refurbished electronics is a little different as scale can give you an advantage and reputation can add a sales value premium.
Barriers to entry are quite low. A mobile phone repair shop can offer prices £10 above MMAG and sell £10 below MMAG. There is however a massive world wide market dealing with returns and faulty goods which sell products like refurbished mobile phones in quantities of 1000's

Walmart.com is one of the fastest growing eCommerce platforms in the US. Adding decluttr brings thousands of quality preowned CDs, DVDs and video games to Walmart customers at competitive prices.

In addition, Walmart recently announced the launch of Walmart Restored, a programme created to help customers discover high quality refurbished electronic products on Walmart.com. In early 2023, decluttr's refurbished phones, iPads, MacBooks and consoles will be added to this programme.

Operating through two trusted brands - musicMagpie in the UK and decluttr in the US - musicMagpie's core strategy is simple: to provide consumers with a smart, sustainable and trusted way to buy, rent and sell refurbished consumer technology and physical media products with sustainability running to the very heart of its operations. Founded in 2007, the Group has an established presence in the UK, with operations in Stockport, Greater Manchester, and in the US in Atlanta, Georgia.

musicMagpie has a strong environmental and social focus, as demonstrated by its trademarked 'smart for you, smart for the planet' ethos. Over 400,000 consumer technology products were resold in FY21. In addition, the Group re-sells approximately 2,500 tonnes of books and disc media each year that could have ended up as waste. During 2021, musicMagpie's UK consumer tech and disc media customers, along with its trade partners, helped to save over 50,000 tonnes of CO2 by buying, selling and renting with the Group - an amount equivalent to providing heating for over 18,000 homes. The Group has been given the London Stock Exchange's Green Economy Mark in recognition of its contribution to the global green economy.

When selling to musicMagpie, the customer is offered a fixed valuation via the website, provided with free logistics to ship the products and (subject to it being 'as described') receives payment for their product on the day of arrival at the Group's warehouse. The Group also recently partnered with Asda to give customers the option of using its SMARTDrop Kiosks in store for a fast and easy way to recycle phones for instant cash. Customers purchasing from musicMagpie receive branded refurbished product for a fraction of the price of buying new.

The Group has the highest number of seller reviews on both Amazon and eBay and has consistently achieved extremely positive feedback scores. The Group also has a 4.5* rating on UK Trustpilot with over 230,000 reviews.

Music Magpie refurbishes about 400,000 tech items every year.

"If you want to get tech as a Christmas present, think about refurbished. It's a good thing. It's sustainable - and you will save money."

And from ice cream makers to headphones, there is a huge range of second-hand tech looking for a new home.

'One tactic Ms Cargan will use to save money this Christmas, is to buy second-hand tech.

"I've saved about £600 buying second-hand phones," she says. "I don't want the latest model - as long as it's functional, I'm happy."

'She bought the phones from Music Magpie, which was founded in a garage in Stockport in 2007. Back then it sold second-hand CDs and DVDs.

Five years later, it expanded into electronics. Now Music Magpie has two workshops in the UK and one in the US, where it refurbishes all sorts of unwanted electronics.

Sam Vesey, Music Magpie's chief sustainability officer, suggests not only buying second-hand to save money, but also selling old tech too, to fund this year's present buying.

"There are estimates that people have about £600 of unused tech," says Ms Vesey. "That's about £16bn sitting in drawers nationwide."

We have a presence in the US, too, don't forget and this model is so attuned to the younger generations, that it is a real niche area.

Thank you for your input darrin.

I generally consider first whether I think the sales model will work.
I have a phone that didn't suit me in the first two weeks of purchase and that I would happily sell on.
So that reinforced the idea to me.

As far as the financial details you mentioned.
Did you not see that after the initial detail of sales being more cautious early summer and a group selling out, things have turned around, with the great improvement mention, on the 7th of December, which led to a more confident outlook?

If a company can be flexible and adapt to a changing environment, both socially and economically, then it's a good sign in my book.

We live in greatly changing times and recession,so shares do have to be picked carefully,so it is upto the individual to assess.
For me as I popped out during the afternoon,to come back and see over 10% rise was very pleasing, as I feel with the interest, too, from the green funds,it might just do alright!

IMHO
