results must be due in June and they rarely do updates and no forecasts but possibly tipped somewhere.

I am afraid MSI rarely do forecasts or should I say management seem to discourage them so you can only base your own forecast on the likely uplift on prior year figures.

A very positive IMS....(not sure why they release mid morning though!)

2010/11 Third quarter update

In my interim statement, I reported that it would not be unrealistic to expect that a strong second half out-turn for 'Defence' should be possible. Pleasingly, that expectation still applies.

The Group order book is substantial and heavily biased in favour of 'Defence', our largest division. Whilst certain markets for 'Forgings' and 'Petrol Station Structures' have continued to improve, their overall recovery to date remains subdued.

Significantly, the balance sheet has made a strong recovery with net cash and short term deposits considerably higher currently than that reported at the interim stage.

In the meantime we continue to actively drive, encourage and support the Group's numerous product development and production efficiency programmes.

Agreed Gorse, a record interim performance and a record order book.

MSI has a rolling 12 month EPS of 18.6 giving a PE of 7.5. Turnover + margin is growing, the dividend has increased 30%, the now 100% owned forecourt business is improving and they've still got £4m net cash on the balance sheet.

Looks good value to me.

Interim results look strong. Balance sheet robust and increase in interim dividend.

I took my profits after the US contract RNS. Holders might find this interesting:

"Defence cuts: Dorset firms fear job losses from government cuts
10:40am Wednesday 20th October 2010"

"Coinciding with the government's review, sources have confirmed that 12 employees at MSI Defence Systems Ltd in Cambridge Road on Weymouth's Granby Industrial Estate have been told the firm is closing and they may have to relocate to the company's Norwich headquarters.

An insider at the company, who asked not to be named, said staff at the site were trying to avoid making the move if possible."

Cannot believe the price isn't going up further - if its an existing product without to many modifications then I would think it would be worth £5m of extra gross margin ( applying the gm % in last years final accounts) so at least this should flow through so i think the rise ought to be more

if the directors knew this contract was likely to be awarded are they guilty of insider trading ?

And online you can only buy a maximum 250 shares, so this could move quickly...I think the directors have picked up all the loose stock over the last few months :o))

Cheers. Excellent news :o))

Note that the completion date is only just over a year away, so this is £18m of turnover which should hugely uplift both this year's and next year's profits.....here's the text of the RNS:

"MS INTERNATIONAL plc (MSI) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $28.64m firm-fixed-price contract by the United States Naval System Command to provide MSI-DS 30mm naval gun weapon systems in support of a US Foreign Military Sales requirement in which the MSI system was specified by the end user. The contract is to be completed by December 2011."

Indeed - the link does say "is being awarded", so one suspects it's in the pipeline. MSI will only be able to announce it when sign-off occurs, so presumably it's on the way, particularly as it's now in the public domain.

This is from the recent finals....

'Defence' produced another record set of results reflecting growth in revenue, profitability, cash and orders on hand. The growth came primarily from strong export sales and manufacturing efficiencies, resulting from our ongoing capital investment in that business. This division accounted for some 60% of Group revenue and has orders on hand some 40% higher than at this time last year.

A $29m contract win like this surely has to be RNS'd (the link does say "is being awarded") given that MSI's entire turnover last year was £41m.

I'd assume that if it's not announced on Monday morning, then it will be as soon as possible. In the meantime perhaps we have a short window of opportunity.

Not a bad contract win, for a company with a £23m m/cap, with £9m net cash, and where 3 directors have bought around 130,000 shares between them this year at around current prices.

per CDRefs only 6% of T/O was US based in 2009- fom the total of41m.
Hope the contract will be hugely profitable. It'll keep them busy anyway!

We should see an RNS for starters surely. Not that these guys ever do those.
