05/7/2006 14:15 | "I believe someone (CR/xdavid?) pointed out earlier that the golf ranges were an extension of the forecourt business. Just shows how MSI management have their eye on the ball" I hope that was intentional! Could be a 'driver' for a whole new 'range' of revenue streams. CR | cockneyrebel
04/7/2006 16:32 | XD - yes, some nice bits there. Going back to the posts the other week on golf ranges, and having looked at the links posted, I was struck by the apparent similarity in structure and fabrication of these and the forecourt canopies. I did then wonder if this was part of a move to diversify their forecourt manufacturing capabilities into a different market. All good stuff either way. >M | milesy
04/7/2006 16:08 | milesy, I liked this bit in your link... "* Production of the gun systems will take place at MSI, Norwich. The initial requirement is for 26 systems. The contract covers both the production and the installation/setting to work of the guns." the "initial" contract :-) | xdavid
04/7/2006 14:56 | I see we're moving back up CR | cockneyrebel
04/7/2006 14:29 | Searching on the "DS30 Mk2" name finds some interesting pieces including: Liked this bit: "The contract was awarded to the firm - which has 80 years' experience in defence markets - after it beat off competition from Selex (formerly BAE Systems Avionics) and Ultra Electronics." Also this one: Given the planned rollout for end '06 (assuming this relates to the Mk2 prototype): "The prototype system was trialled under the UK MoD Applied Research Programme (ARP) in April 2003 on HMS Somerset." >M | milesy
04/7/2006 14:17 | Yep, a nice rise would take the sting out of the fact that I sold RTD at 140 so I could top up with MSI. :-( | iandippie
04/7/2006 11:36 | Moving in the right direction again. Hopefully a tip or two should take it over 2 quid | bigbigdave
04/7/2006 11:06 | Bought fewer, paid more. | peladon
04/7/2006 10:28 | Bt a few today @ 179p. | david77
04/7/2006 08:24 | Agreed. Got a news alert today with more past coverage of MSI's £15m contract win. It makes good reading and of course underpins a large part of MSI's turnover for the next few years: | rivaldo
03/7/2006 20:01 | well it's never been a short term punt imo. these go through long spells of inactivity then sudden surges in buying. The chart is still above where it was a fortnight ago and 10% re-traces are common enough in this on the past two years. Historic PE of 11, great long term growth record. Forward PE probably a lot lower than 11 and strip out the net cash of £5m the PE is even lower. Way too cheap still imo. CR | cockneyrebel
03/7/2006 18:36 | I see Robbie Burns' target is 255p - looks like he's in MSI for the long-term, and FWIW I believe that has to be the correct way: The price has actually stood up pretty well to post-results profit-taking, and it'll be interesting to see what happens with a bit more demand when MSI gets mentioned in the IC - from memory they've tipped MSI in the past so should do a decent follow-up. | rivaldo
29/6/2006 14:24 | I had a couple of companies reporting on the same day. MSI & Radstone Technology (RST). Of the 2, Msi's looked on paper the better of the pair. What happened? Msi drops and Rst climbs higher & higher. What do I know!!! | sidebar
29/6/2006 13:55 | My local signet group is recommending 95% cash too. | cambium
29/6/2006 13:43 | There seems to be a few smallcaps with recent results who have similarly seen profit taking rather than further expected gains. Just a small selection I've looked at but maybe a relection on people becoming more cautious after the May 'correction' and moving some profit into cash 'just in case'. Maybe an indication that market is moving to 'slow and cautious' mode for rest of summer rather than previous full bullishness. | xdavid
29/6/2006 13:10 | buyers and sellers sidebar, seems that there's a good deal of both in the market for MSI imo. Buy volume is winning today too while sell price is winning - very mixed trading. Think we'll settle around this level for a while where we were before the 'Burns rally' then move higher imo. CR | cockneyrebel
29/6/2006 13:04 | Just sit tight for gradual further gains i reckon | gswredland
29/6/2006 12:20 | CR. bull/bear push/pull. Best explanation I've heard m8 :-) | sidebar
29/6/2006 10:28 | Seems to be a bit of a bull/bear push/pull here at the moment. Think the bulls will win through. Who knows, we might even get an AGM statement this year after this reaction :-) CR | cockneyrebel
28/6/2006 14:09 | yep, think tips might be what moves this short term. CR | cockneyrebel
28/6/2006 13:33 | Advfn trade column misses out trades recorded elsewhere (eg. Plus). It's number of individual trades, via Squaregain, which make their table, not value or total size. | xdavid
28/6/2006 12:15 | xdavid, if thats so, it does not say much for advfn trades column! also could mean a company share buy back? | crapcrap
28/6/2006 11:43 | Haven't seen that before... MSI is down as one of Squaregain's top 5 traded shares yesterday (by number of trades) for both Buys AND Sells, along with the likes of Vodaphone, Burren and RBS. We're trading it just like the big-boys! :-) | xdavid
28/6/2006 11:36 | CR, only 5 months 'till interims ;-) Maybe we'll at least have one RNS on 'purchase of own shares' - after all, they've done so between finals and interims for the last 4 years... Can I suggest to anybody who has not already done so, that they should phone the number on the RNS (01302 322133) - MSI switchboard - and ask for a copy of the MS International annual report when it goes out (along with last years?). The printed report contains a much greater breakdown of the figures (+ 5 year summary), the all imporant 'notes on the accounts' and additional background info (eg. JVs, remuneration, staffing levels, etc). | xdavid |
