24/10/2022 04:50 | The turnaround story looks really attractive until I noticed they'd 3 different auditors within the last 3 years - something doesn't seem right... | hongjoey
15/9/2022 07:50 | Look at the overall picture .this is a recovery stock and will make good profits. | applied1
15/9/2022 07:06 | Higher bond yields drive lower deficits was my point. Look at the pensions note for the sensitivity. It’s in the accounts. | mrsimmons
14/9/2022 16:22 | that is my point - it is driven by bond yields at a point in time. All deficits atm are at a low due to bond yields - hence a lot of companies are looking at buy outs. Anyway decent results and management team should be pleased. The previous team under MNJ were a complete disaster. | mrsimmons
14/9/2022 14:04 | Actually, I’ve misread that. “Accordingly, Mr Whiley has increased his interest from 1,225,890 shares to 2,125,168 shares.” | cash2020
14/9/2022 08:39 | RE the pensions, the deficit will be likely to continue to reduce as interest rates rise (higher gilt yields = larger discount rate used to project future pension liabilities = lower current value of the liabilities). But they are committed to significant and rising payments through to 2033: "As at 31 March 2022 the deficit had reduced to GBP78 million and the following revised annual contributions have now been agreed with the trustees, for the years ending in March as follows: 2023 - GBP1 million; 2024 - GBP4 million; 2025 - GBP7 million; 2026 - GBP8 million; 2027 to 2032 - GBP9 million: 2033 - GBP0.7 million. Mainly due to increasing interest rates the deficit had reduced still further to GBP60m by the end of June 2022" | imastu pidgitaswell
14/9/2022 08:24 | Cash you need to be careful when you say it’s halved. That’s just accounting. These things are ridiculously sensitive to bond yields. The funding agreement is what you need to look at and from memory the payments start going up to 8/9m. Decent results but this management team are rebuilding the disastrous legacy left by the previous profligate ceo | mrsimmons
14/9/2022 07:54 | I’d forget the dividends for the moment, that will come in time. The pension deficit has been more than halved in the last two years, that’s impressive. If we step back and look at the big picture, they’re only in two of the top ten markets. I would imagine that they will use an online platform for these new markets which really shouldn’t take too long to set up. Revenues will only increase now (and we’re still 25% down due to global conditions). Imo we’re in a great position and this is now a big opportunity. DYOR | cash2020
14/9/2022 07:39 | Jimmy let me know when they start paying dividend. They have a 60m deficit on their balance sheet and that is under IAS 19. The funding deficit will be worse. I’d also add the deficit is suppressed atm due to high yields. Still that is a decent performance. I hope they turn it around. The previous CEO - newton jones ran this into the ground and wasted 100m quid. Shareholders deserve some sort of return here due to the previous management teams wastefulness. | mrsimmons
13/9/2022 20:50 | When the pension deficit is £60m , the exciting £10m EBITA is not enough to see this share ever paying a dividend again . Russia is a kick in the teeth but it was on the canvas anyway. Good luck if you bought recently , but if you bought a few yrs ago then the small share price rises are irrelevant. I only keep this on my monitor to remind me of bad buys I made in the past. | wad collector
13/9/2022 18:21 | Mrsimmons1 Sep '22 - 11:20 - 397 of 409 0 0 0 Holders will never get any return on this. The pension deficit is a killer. The company only exists to pay down the deficit. That’s the facts. The previous ceo squandered that 100m rights money. Wasted it on defunct erp systems, head office refurbishments and uk store upgrades. All wasted. A real shame. | jimmyloser
