I don't think the pension is a problem. Change the discount rate to 2% (Not the current abnormal 1%) and the pension fund is ok. Every UK problem has a similar problem at present

You say he fritted it away but he closed a lot if loss making shops. How much does each shop cost in terms of redundancies and excess lease etc? It did seem odd he was spending a lot of money on reporting shops when he was planning to close a lot of them though. For this to survive now he needs to negotiate offsetting pensions, reducing rent and get a 30m injection of cash. No stakeholder would benefit from this going down especially retail lease companies. They will struggle to find occupiers for these stores in the current climate. It's not beyond reason to renegotiate the pension and leases but it's still a big ask.

They are both retail businesses making use of similar input costs."

You don't disappoint do you.

Just about guaranteed to come on and make yourself look an idiot....

So to ram it home , just maybe you actually do not understand.....

Buy a premises , put weight machines in it , have some staff wonder around and keep the place clean and sell time , TIME as much time in the building as you can....

Is entirely different to buying stock from China or where ever , putting it in a shop and hoping people buy it at full price - and if they don't you have a pile of stock you tie your capital up in waiting for some one........

Dealy has the penny finally dropped???

I think all shareholders would like an answer to that one!!!

I would also like to know where the £100M shareholders injected in 2014 has gone.

It is bizarre that a company which conducts a straightforward process can perform as badly as this. I know Amazon is out there but plenty of other retailers coped in this period.

A 100% profit on £1m is as good as a 5% profit on £20m
