25/7/2012 18:29 | Half year report is approx. 4 weeks away I think. Looking at the chart I'm seeing a couple of things;- 1. Falling wedge. I like these often they are a bullish pre-curser. It's not a particularly defined one here since MLIN is a bit illiquid, but the point co-incodes with the longer up-trend. 2. RSI (I've picked 21 day - seems to go nicely with previous moves) also indicates we're into "buy" territory. SO, I reckon fundamentals are pretty firm (notwithstandding global economic issues). Thus I have snaffled a few up. | thorpematt
13/6/2012 11:36 | The retirement crisis was thrown into sharp relief yesterday as official figures showed that the collective shortfall in company pension schemes had ballooned to a record £312.1bn last month. It marked the highest deficit in final-salary pension schemes since records began in May 2003, according to the Pension Protection Fund, the lifeboat for stricken schemes. In its latest monthly update, the PPF said that only 929 of the 6,432 schemes that it monitors had more than enough funds to meet their long-term obligations. At the same time last year, more than 2,260 schemes were in surplus and the collective deficit in company schemes was only £24.5bn. The PPF blamed the problem on tumbling gilt yields, which are used to calculate pension liabilities. Drops in yields of as much as 0.55% last month had more than offset gains in equity markets, it said, according to The Times. -------------------- So in essence a common problem...needs to be dealt with one way or another. | thorpematt
05/6/2012 11:53 | Babs2012 Interesting links thanks. Pensions can be tricky things to manage that's for sure. A real change in the landscape needs to take place, managing existing structures is a minefield. May I ask what you're connection is with MLIN. I can see that you're profile is newly created so I'm making some asumptions which are probably inacurate. TIA. | thorpematt
31/5/2012 12:12 | Oh dear !! the future looks bleaker now. How to upset and de-motivate your small amount of still working staff whilst having no effect on the thousands already on pensions or due pensions. -------------------- | babs2012

26/4/2012 18:00 | spot on..............only taken as a sale once invoiced. I remain a big fan tiger | castleford tiger
26/4/2012 14:29 | Sales orders are orders placed (work in progress and things due for completion). Sales invoiced (achieved) are things delivered and completed. So orders being up augers well for second half. Make sense? | thorpematt
26/4/2012 13:21 | Positive IMS, IMHO. One puzzle: "Order Intake in each of the Group's three divisions is ahead of the same period last year. Sales in the first part of the year are at broadly similar levels to last year and are in line with internal plans." What is the difference between sales and order intake? mct | mctmct
24/4/2012 18:19 | 150 written all over it. Business is good but 2nd half weighted. Tiger | castleford tiger
