In IC a couple of weeks ago Simon Thompson made a big play on how demonstrably influential his tips are these days and why it is better to be an online subscriber to get his weekly tip around midday on Monday and benefit from the consequent spike, rather than wait until the paper version arrives on Friday by which time the opportunity is gone. (NB You need to be monitoring the IC site from before midday to play that game, and in contact with your broker - it's no good waiting for the IC email which might come half an hour too late).

Wonder how much of that we'll hold on to till the end of the day. That was a nice surprise on a very grey day for my portfolio.

I was hoping for much more and a report on the progress in the US with the tobacco industry and the government over there.

Ah well, at least the Naked Trader has just bought back in:

"Molins (MLIN) is a nice little company I've made money on in the past. A slightly disappointing statement saw the shares fall but imo they fell too far so I nabbed a few at 109.07 targetting a run back up to 125ish. They say the second half should be good."

Agree 100 i bought a right few chunks last week all sub 110p.

Been spending all my time buying FFY ahead of numbers yesterday.
rewarded with 9% jump yesterday and 50% upside in 6 months.
Have a look as they are as cheap as MLIN.

No surprise there,a consequence of Q.E. and the fall in bond yields ,a keystone of calculating pension liabilities. They're hardly alone.

The figures are ok but there's no increase in dividend. The first half performance comes over as being a bit patchy.High margin orders of a year ago have given way to more humdrum lower margin bespoke orders.I note they'll be costs associated with the relocation of one division in the second half.Anyway,we can only hope that Mr Schwarz comes to the rescue, stressing that everything remains on track for the second half and that the prospective PE is around 6 and the yield around 5%.

I am not getting too carried away with the first half numbers.

I expect the bigger push late in the year, as a very strong second half comes into play.
I have raised my own 12 month target to 2.00 and will be buying on weakness.
