what it says in the header about US appetite for PTT does appears true enough:

hp: EVO has a buyer, that I know for sure. I hadn't noticed the change in NMS - but it could be that he's close to filling the order. Anyhow, Level 2 is still very strong, and although SCAP is on the offer, he's got sod all to sell.

MBT is a bit 'lumpy' the way it moves, but as long as the new uptrend remains intact I'll not worry unduly about that.

I'm sure the NMS for EVO has fallen from 25k to 10k. Anyone any ideas why?

Surely some news must have leaked to cause this constant stream of relatively small buys...Lovely rise today regardless. RNS imminent?

Notice that there have been quite a few more small buys over the last few days. News on the way?

The large delayed transaction (260K at 5.25p) has neither weakened Level 2 nor changed on-line quotes; if anything, the latter are stronger than before.

Perhaps we await some balancing trade later tonight or tomorrow.

Edit: a c70K trade at 7p - that's a 15% premium to the advertised offer price.

L2 2vs2 but that translates to 28k vs 8k so we should see another tick-up even on very light buying.

Appreciate the tip PB. Looks like this is a very tightly held share, so could fly on news, even with relatively low volume.

Here's hoping.

The c100K BUY at a 10% premium to the offer is a sign of the shortage of stock - as well as confirmation that any dips are being used by investors to add.

Early days, but a promising outlook prevails.

It seems an appropriate time to begin a new thread for MBT given the changes in ownership and management that have occurred recently.

The business is on a much sounder financial footing following ITO's cash injection; ITO's continued support is also very likely, which should provide a measure of comfort to shareholders.

Revenues are expected to grow strongly over the next three years as the new team exploit what is - from all accounts - fabulous technology. Europe is lagging woefully North America in it adoption of 'push-to-talk' technology, and so it is here (especially in the US) where MBT is focusing its efforts, the main target being second tier telecomms operators.

But Europe will adopt the technology sooner rather later, and opportunites in the UK in particular are being researched and prosecuted.

MBT's current valuation reflects legacy issues that seem now to be resolved. An early deal with a largish operator would transform the company's finances and signal to the wider market just how rich its prospects are.

My view is make sure your stop is placed at least 12% lower than your entry point, otherwise you could end up being one of those stories when you got stopped out on a minor spike down.

"I'm afraid my stop also caused me to lose most of my trading money," he e-mailed me ruefully.

And that's another point; never put all your eggs in one basket. My reader, of course, was excited about BAA because of a possible bid. The price went down when the bid looked less certain and rocketed up again when a bid was more likely again. If he had held BAA as part of a balanced portfolio then his would not have lost so much of his trading capital.

So to sum up: in these volatile times stops can save you from a sudden market crash. But do not set them too close! And remember, when setting stops with spread betting firms, only a guaranteed stop will get you out at the exact price of your stop loss. You must use the word "guaranteed".

My portfolio isn't faring too badly despite the volatility. My strongest companies are holding up well and these include Carphone Warehouse, Creston and Wolfson.

A word of comfort to those holding shares during this turbulence: it is not 1999 when shares were obviously overvalued. Those sticking with good companies should end up OK.

Good luck to all during these difficult times and whatever decisions you make, I hope they prove the right ones!
