added a few today, MM's were bidding for 100k and offering only 5k. Hopeful of further positive results at Komana and further positive news over the coming months.

i think 15p might be breached within the next few months. May be some resistance at 12p but with the expected newflow we should start to gather momentum. Time for a top up guys??

Hi Serpico - I value Ur postings here.

I wouldnt be terribly surprised if GEX were also saying "thanks" to those institutions who got them out of a hole a few years back (post Wassa) by giving them this discounted and possibly LAST opportunity. Its also a nice few ££££ to add to the bank account.

Solona has always been regarded as a license area with absolutely stunning potential (akin to Komana) by GEX's top people and so far they have been on the ball in Mali.

Yes, TOP UP!

BEFORE the yahooies arrive.

Very nice to see no real discount price for the placing - but are they strapped for cash? I would have thought a few more drill results from Komana might see the placing being done at an even higher price?

Also, is there a reason why they're postponing drilling at komana for a month? I must admit, thats where I've focussed most of my attention but could Badoga-Malikila be as interesting?

As others here, I have a good feeling about GEX. And that feeling is saying top up before the others arrive.

Agree with the sentiment today, good price for the placing, and so there should be with the potential we have. Im sure Macquarie will be very aware of this and wouldnt surprise me if they have an inclination that the next drill results will also be positive.

As for the update by TW, he could have got the price right:) strong spuculative buy at 9.5p?? He sounds like he remains very bullish. Im looking forward to this year and next.

Good luck all

p.s very tempted to top up for a short term trade on top of my core holding...

Good to see the 10.5p placing - should provide solid support upon which to build. Otherwise, RNS seems to confirm all going to plan, with some assay results soon on Komana.

Does this tell its own story...

The funds will be used to continue the exploration and drilling
programmes on the Company's exciting gold targets in southern Mali
and Ghana and for general corporate purposes. In particular, the
funding will enable continued, intensive drilling at the Komana West
deposit, where the results of drilling to date have been VERY POSITIVE!!!

Anyone else feel tiddlers with near term production, decent commercial projects are about to have thir time in the sun?

TW wrote 20/3 that at 9.5p, it was a 'strong speculative buy'.
And similar to the above.

This is what I managed to find of an older uk-analyst tip

Valuation

This is an early stage play. Those who believe that a tip from me should be 100% certain to rise should not bother with this one. Exploration is risky by its nature. However...

I am work on the basis that a sub 5 million ounce resource is worth roughly $35 oz in which case a 3 million oz resource on Komana would be worth $105 million (£55 million). Now I accept that the data to date needs to be risk weighted and that Mali is not Ballybofey. So for the time being I shall value this asset at £27.5 million but any success in the next drilling campaign will see that number increase significantly as the risk weighting drops. To this one should add Glencar's cash and the value of its quote (say £2 million) and the value of its joint venture with Gold Fields. What it sits on in this jv has potential and Gold Fields will fund an aggressive exploration programme but this is early stage stuff so a valuation of £10 million is not imprudent but I admit that it is far from precise. All of this gives me a target valuation of c£40 million or 18p per share.

However...my valuations are - arguably - hopelessly cautious. If Komana comes up trumps it will be sold on and the most recent transactions in this industry are valuing gold in the ground at up to $80 oz. Personally I regard such valuations as teetering on the verge of insanity but I am meeting sensible men who disagree. We shall see. But if Glencar can firm up a 3 million ounce resource expect to see some people using valuation parameters far more generous than my own and this will make my price target look very cautious indeed.
