06/7/2006 16:20 | It's probably a response to the article on minesite 2 days ago. The article states that an update is due sometime this Summer... and I'm hoping it's the 'company transforming' type that was hinted at by the press prior to the last update. Fingers crossed! | xbh91

04/7/2006 21:31 | Courtesy of Stentor 1 on iii. from Minesite: July 05, 2006 Glencar Awaits Assay Results From Joint Venture With Gold Fields In Mali. By Rob Davies Glencar Mining is a long established junior exploration company, listed on AIM, that has enjoyed varying degrees of success. Its current operations are focussed on Africa and Mali in particular where it has two interesting projects, one wholly owned and one joint ventured with Gold Fields. These two properties; Yanfolila and Sankarani should both start generating news flows over the coming months. Kieran Harrington, technical director of Glencar, is most excited by the results so far from the drilling at Komana West, part of the Yanfolila Project where a bonanza intersection of 20metres graded 55.2 grammes/tonne last December. Like much of the area this was recovered from the Birimian metasediments with porphyry intrusions. Subsequent drilling in March including one borehole returning 11metres at 41.8 grammes/tonne, has extended the strike length of the mineralisation by 250metres to 1,100 metres. Mineralisation is concentrated around a shear zone 70 to 80metres wide and work on more detailed interpretation is underway. Unfortunately the onset of the rainy season means that no further drilling can be carried out here until the end of October. Work has recently started on the Solona Concession, a more recent addition to the Yanfolila Project. The field work has already identified a number of prospective targets at least one of which Glencar hopes to advance to drill target status during the next field season. Work at Sankarani is at earlier stage. Gold Fields is funding exploration here to the tune of US$12million to earn a 65 per cent stake but operations are being run by Glencar. The Sankarani project has three concessions within it: Bokoro Sanioumale and Farasaba In the Bokoro concession 3,000 metres of drilling has been completed recently at the Sanankoro target. Assays results in about a month's time will be eagerly awaited. The great potential in Mali overshadows Glencar's interests in Uganda, Ghana and Ireland so these are all on the back burner at the current time. Exploration camps in both areas are being upgraded and, having raised US$2.2million in February, the company is able to fund its own programme at Komana West for this season while relying on Gold Fields for the Sankarani work. Capitalised at £20million there is not much for analysts to get their teeth into yet at Glencar, but that should change over the summer. -------------------- | ![]() valentine
