19/6/2007 19:02 | callumrose, If, as you say, Mid States has no real competition, then their product has phenomenal potential. This is the dream that everyone has been waiting for. A cure for flu and the common cold, leaving aside the MRSA superbugs. Also, the variety of enclosed places it can be used in is extraordinarily varied from care homes and offices to trains, aeroplanes, shops and offices. If you're stuck on a long haul flight with someone next to you sneezing and coughing every other minute, you can rest more easily knowing there is an AD device gently blowing through the cabin. Why therefore are the company marketing the product as a device to stop superbugs in hospitals when its other applications will have a far more popular appeal? If this device does what it says on the bottle, then for me, this has to be one of the most exciting products/shares I have come across. And if the media pick up on the story then the share price is sky's the limit. The 'Daily Mail' would love to write about a product like this. In fact, so long as its 99.9% efficacy is proven, I could see it becoming a media darling over the next month or so. I shall definitely be buying in at 8am tomorrow morning. :) | radarlove

19/6/2007 18:59 | Purchased 25k today at 23.5 pence. This product seems too good to be true. With no competitors or other similar products in the market this could be a company maker. Valued at only 20 million and taking into account the potential use of the product ie. offices, hospitals care homes etc... the potential here is massive and we could easily multi-bag from these levels. | samuri19

19/6/2007 18:37 | I had a look around their Buckingham factory a few months ago. It is a very large building and they had allocated a considerable part of the building for production of the new machine. So, if there is the demand the company should be able to meet it. There has been little said about how the company will sell the machine. I would think potential customers will need a bit of convincing that the machine is effective and that will require a good salesforce and/or demonstration facilities. Do you know anything about this Callumross? MJ | mjcrockett
19/6/2007 18:14 | no-one - it is indeed a unique product although in the US a much less efficaecous product, Ionic Breeze, dominates the home market. If you check the earlier thread that I have run for a few years now, you will see how closely I have followed this company. I expect we'll see a further run up in the shares as the coverage increases and the potential for the product is understood. | callumross
19/6/2007 18:11 | callumross, You seem to be the 'man in the know'. Who are the competition for Mid-States? | radarlove
19/6/2007 18:11 | the product is intended to be rolled out to workplaces, public places and homes with a launch planned in the health conscious US where a much less efficient product Ionic Breeze dominates the market so the potential is massive. However, the rollout from the healthcare sector will not begin until later in 2007. | callumross
19/6/2007 18:01 | Here's a copy of their new scientific web site:- I can see this having potential in your own home. Updated Web Site states :- "Domestic Sector Whilst much attention is paid to hospital "superbugs", a clear target of AD, it is easy to forget that infections occur in the home and workplace. Influenza and other "common" bugs create more everyday problems for people than the headline hospital infections." Even has a revenue tail - "The AD is carefully designed so that it cannot operate without a refill cartridge properly in place and will, if the cartridge becomes exhausted, switch itself off...and remain off until a fresh cartridge is inserted" | observant
19/6/2007 17:55 | I have just answered my own questions. Yes, MST's potential is utterly phenomenal if it does what it says on the bottle! "The air disinfection device generates a continuous cascade of hydroxyl radicals indoors, reproducing the same effect as occurs naturally outdoors. This effect is scientifically proven to be effective in an enclosed environment in killing well publicised pathogens including MRSA, E. coli and C. diff in addition to those associated with influenza and other illnesses. It is suitable for use in a variety of environments including hospitals, care homes, offices, hotels and domestic homes." | radarlove
19/6/2007 17:13 | I am setting a target price of 80p | imprima2
19/6/2007 17:11 | I am presently doing some research before jumping in and have several questions. Can anyone kindly answer them for me? From the press release, "The AD is able to generate these hydroxyl radicals in a way that is entirely safe to humans but which kills air-borne bacteria and viruses." If this technology can kill off super-bugs, presumably, in the process, it can also kill off lesser virulent bugs like the flu and cold virus? While it's planned to be used in hospitals, presumably the technology can also be used in any enclosed areas where people come together. eg. Trains, aeroplanes, restaurants, pubs, hotels, theatres, cinemas, shops etc... My point being that obviously the MRSA bugs are not usually found here, but flu viruses etc.. are. Are we finally looking at a cure for the flu and cold virus? For if so, then MST's potential is utterly phenomenal! | radarlove

19/6/2007 15:56 | Macdonald, 64, founder of the successful but short-lived Alpha Machine Technologies at East Kilbride, now co-owns 30% of AIM-listed Mid-States, acquired last October as a cash shell. It bought established environmental technology firm Inov8 Technologies, prior to creating subsidiary Inov8 Science. www.inov8.com | observant
