21/6/2007 21:57 | Electronic Technique a couple of years ago had an air conditioning machine that suspose to have eliminated MRSA bug in the air, but the hospitals never did buy it, and the share price went down and down with no orders. It is as said above a machine to go to be true, and in theory should sell hundreds making MST turnover massive, but will it take off? Getting the NHS to spend money is difficult. Take ULT and they depression software maybe a good idea but the sales are low and the share price has gone nowhere. One thing though any further news or share tip and the share price could well have another surge. | guru11
20/6/2007 12:13 | I am sure the machines are effective in taking 'bugs' out of the air and hence, to answer timanglin's question the hospital ward with the machine has less infections. However, anyone walking into that ward with bugs on their hands or clothes could still pass on an infection. Also, you will probably need more than one machine per ward. I think each machine will cover a small side ward, but a large ward will require more machines. MJ | mjcrockett
20/6/2007 11:37 | It's one of those 'too good to be true' products, I agree. Even so, the temptation to take a small punt is too great, just in case plastic can be alchemised into gold! timanglin, We are told that various trials and tests have proven the product has 99.999% efficacy. Even leading 'infection' doctors have endorsed it. | radarlove
20/6/2007 11:35 | the question is 'are they clinically effective?' in other words does 1 hospital ward with the machine have less infections than a second comparable hospital ward without the machine, all else being equal. | timanglin
20/6/2007 09:50 | I know that I would buy one of these for my office! | cpurser
20/6/2007 09:44 | I remember ETQ (MRSA air conditioning machines) and ULT (depression software) both reliant on NHS orders neither of which has taken off, so it is difficult to say with MST what forecast price it could be. They may only rise on orders coming in the door, but one must say the potential could be huge. | guru11

20/6/2007 08:10 | mjcrockett, From the company's website. "The hydroxyl radical destroys all bacteria and viruses that may cause infection. Independent tests have shown a kill rate of 99.999% in a typical space in less than 60 minutes. It has a slower effect on spores." They state elsewhere that this specifically includes the flu and cold virus. In my view, this is where their biggest market is. Destroying MRSA is just them "showing off!" :)) | radarlove
20/6/2007 08:05 | And we're off early buys coming in nicely | tsigoloroh
20/6/2007 08:00 | radarlove - the efficacy of the product has been proved over many years of research and testing - it is not in question. | callumross

20/6/2007 06:52 | radarlove, I do not think that Mid States are claiming to eradicate Cold and Flu viruses. They have only specified superbugs in my reading of their announcement yesterday. The AD may well have an effect on other viruses - I do not know, but I don't think the company are claiming that. Also, I do not think it is particularly significant that they have an initial focus on healthcare. They say that the AD will be available elsewhere by the end of 2007. This is a new product and a relatively small company. They have got to walk before they can run. MJ | mjcrockett
19/6/2007 22:32 | I thought that Electronic Techniques some time ago had an air conditioning filtering machine that so say got rid of the MRSA bug, but the NHS never bought it and the company went down hill afterwards. See what happens tomorrow, but I guess MST will fly. | guru11
19/6/2007 21:52 | "Why therefore are the company marketing the product as a device to stop superbugs in hospitals when its other applications will have a far more popular appeal?" They are going to roll the product out to the home, workplace and other enclosed environments later in the year but have wisely chosen to start with the toughest, most demanding place you could think of, the hospital ward, to prove the efficacy of the product. I have a copy of the report from Professor Hugh Pennington, one of the world's top infection experts, endorsing the efficacy of the product when trialled last year. | callumross
19/6/2007 20:28 | I can see the pharmaceutical companies won't be best pleased. Their cough mixtures, lemsips, lozenges, general pills etc.. may all suffer from dwindling sales, so one concern might be a backlash towards the claims by Inov8 of the AD's 99.999% efficacy. Ah, so what, that may only occur further up the road. | radarlove
19/6/2007 20:13 | 40 years of research and we have the fruits for our eating | iou1lov
19/6/2007 20:12 | Analyst, From the company's website: "What protection is offered? The hydroxyl radical destroys all bacteria and viruses that may cause infection. Independent tests have shown a kill rate of 99.999% in a typical space in less than 60 minutes. It has a slower effect on spores." | radarlove
19/6/2007 19:53 | As everyone says, 'Its too good to be true!' If the media pick up on this extraordinary story over the next few days then the share price is sky's the limit. Buy as many shares as you can, then spread the word. :) PS: Does anyone know the cost of the product. Presumably, they come in different sizes and hence different prices? And how much does a refill cartridge cost? | radarlove |
