Massive dumping of stock now. I don't even think £4 will hold this week at this rate.

I hate to be fair to this bunch of muppets, but the dealings with Mrs Hill have been fully disclosed and were known to "everybody" from the outset. So no cause for legal action ...... at least on this issue!

Blimey if that is true what were the UK Banking Authorities thinking of giving him a licence ?

Will the Institutions that have lost BIG here take legal action ?

Lest we forget :-

"The founder of Metro Bank who has handed £21million to his wife's business was hounded out of US finance for doing the same thing a decade ago.

Billionaire Vernon Hill was thrown off the board of Commerce Bancorp, which he founded in the US in the 1990s, after he gave his wife Shirley £36m in payments to design branches."

I wonder what the lender who is going to fund Metro with $450M dollars very shortly is making of all this adverse PR going off at the moment ?

I also wonder if the money is/was coming from a USA based Institution ?

A friend of Vernon's perhaps

Management's fault, if your stock hadn't gone from £40 to £5, you wouldn't be in this mess. If you hadn't committed accounting fraud, you wouldn't be in this mess.

I don't understand why we even need privately owned banks, why can't the bank of england give mortgages, loans, keep bank accounts etc. Why do we risk a banking system (which is essential) to the fear and greed of wall street and the city?

We've learned the past.

Get the government to buy shares in this. Gordon Brown did this and "saved the world". Remember?

I am pretty sure the PRA will do all they can to stop a bank run - not the opposite which is what you suggest

Just need that total imbecile Robert Peston to cause a " run " as he did on Norther Rock. Theres obvi some big issues, banking it would seem still as poorly regulated as the LSE which allows any old cxxp and dodgy foreign mining companies to list as long as they cough up the fees.

Yeah only the business sections are reporting this, once it hits the front page of the BBC , you are going to get a real bank run. There is one way to stop a bank run, limit the amount of money depositors can remove. It may be worthwhile of metro bank to do this.

If I was running the world, I would have suspended the shares today at market open. Tell Metro Bank, you have X number of days to sort out financing. If you can't get the financing, call in the administrators.

If they suspend shares what is that going to do for customer / depositor confidence. That's the problem with banks. It is all a mirage if people want their money back at same time

The fault lies with the board, the market has to price in the chance of collapse. If you are so financially sound as a business, why do you need to get the begging bowl out every year asking for money? When BCCI, Northern Rock, Lehman Brothers and AIG collapsed, they all said "everything is fine", so I do not trust the board to tell the truth. Everything may be ok though, the stock should reflect all known information.

The stock is rolling over again, shares should be suspended till financing is sorted.
