Yep set fair i’d say. With so much asset backing and a profitable fund management business and the capacity to invest directly into the pick of the investments off their b/s plus what i think could be a steady flow of profitable exits it looks pretty compelling.

Abstract from Singer Capital Markets research note 25 Nov 2021: "Mercia has provided a positive update on a number of fronts. H1 adj. operating profit is running materially ahead of market expectations. Another performance fee has been crystallised in the NVM VCTs (£1.6m net). Valuation gains in H1 were better than expected driving >£10m H1 comprehensive net income. We incorporate this into our model, driving a +72% upgrade to FY22e adj. EBITDA (+23% u/l to £3.7m excl. performance fees) and a +4% increase to our NAV. We reiterate our 50p/sh SOTP valuation driving a BUY recommendation (from Corporate)."

2nd direct investment in around 7 days. Looks sensible. Some capital being put to work. Quiet pbb. What's not to like?

What you say assumes there are a lot of suckers out there; that is debatable. It is also highly unlikely that the sort of person who holds shares in large enough quantities to alter the share price believes all they read here.

roddi, misleading comments on a bulletin board can spook some investors into selling prematurely, and if enough people got sucked into selling, then the share price can be dragged down....?

pinkfish Comments on a bulletin board are not likely to influence the share price.

hTtps://goodlawproject.org/update/ever-growing-mystery-missing-phone/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=social%20media&utm_campaign=lord%20bethell%20update%201609 The deal between the government and Abingdon Health is looking distinctly dodgy. As Mercia held shares in Abingdon, on behalf of the UK government via the British Business Bank, before the deal and IPO, will they get dragged into the legal dispute? It seems to me there are questions to answer and the way the Abingdon IPO was pushed through before it all went sour doesn't look good.

Very positive statement today. "I am pleased to say that Mercia is continuing to perform well across both its profitable fund management operations and its balance sheet direct investment portfolio. Our Group-wide strong liquidity position is enabling us to deploy capital into new and existing attractive investment opportunities, both through our managed funds and balance sheet. We have a differentiated business model which is now delivering incremental shareholder value and we are increasingly optimistic about our future."

Abingdon is certainly helping the government who hold cheap pre-IPO shares via a British Business Bank investment managed by Mercia. Abingdon have had to shed staff due to government non-payment for services rendered and ABC antibody tests they used months ago. Oh the irony…

Mercia portfolio company nDreams launched their new game ‘Fracked’; today. Early consensus is that quality is excellent and fans want more. I see nDreams cementing their reputation with Sony at an opportune time as Sony develops the next generation virtual reality platform, anticipated to launch Christmas 2022. Time for nDreams to develop their blockbuster. “In an interview with Nikkei Sony Interactive Entertainment President and PlayStation boss Jim Ryan says the potential for VR is huge and the PSVR 2 is a strategic opportunity. So when it arrives, it'll be worth the wait.”
