B+ "If Dana,as reported by the FT, is true, it’s quite possible GKN will be only a shadow of itself by mid 2019"

It was a bad move by GKN to mention Dana, definately shows a feeling of desperation from them. A far worse option than anything MRO have planned in my opinion.

Isn't the 7th. March the decision date ? Unless offer extended of course.

How about Melrose buys Dana which is a similar league to GKN re operating margin, then acquires GKN Driveline. Just a thought!!!

Yes, agree strongly Meanwhile.

If this MRO deal doesn’t go through I suppose the GKN pension fund will stay British ..... with the PPF.

GKN is a 250 year old british company, whose roots go back to the Industrial Revolution.
I would urge all GKN & MRO shareholders to support the Melrose bid, in order to preserve this company as part of our british heritage, against the savage & brutal U.S.-interested asset strippers, recently appointed to the GKN board.

For GKN & MRO shareholders, it's no longer a matter of making money from the outcome (although it is clear that it never really was for me anyway, but can't speak for others), it's simply down to keeping the company british.

Time for Melrose to bang the UK drum and state that they will float Auto and Aero on the FTSE after improving. GKN definitely the asset strippers. Plans change daily in desperation to stop Melrose.

Knowing the “left” my guess is that they will be silent.
The “intellectual” left, as with the EU, tends to despise its national interests. The unions I’m not so sure these days. Although, with Trump in power their “intellects221; may be bent.
A difficult one for them no doubt ;-)

Yertiz I'll see what I can do! He does seem like a good prospect. I wish you well and hope you can push on and claim an automatic spot in the next few weeks. Cheers M

Mattboxy - could you ask the BoD at Bristol City very nicely if we could keep young Zak? He's an outstanding player in defence, assured, strong, confident and a great reader of the game. He has fitted in with our defence like a hand in a glove and will go far.

As predicted the GKN asset stripping of itself is real.
Flogging itself off to Stevens’ chums in the US.

If Dana,as reported by the FT, is true, it’s quite possible GKN will be only a shadow of itself by mid 2019, and probably mostly American owned. Not sure what it will mean for GKN jobs in this country. Possibly lots will go.

I completely agree, Bukko, but how exactly do you know?
Is it because you do flaunt yours or because you never mention it?

I only mention & flaunt what little I have if I'm provoked. And then I only mention my wal... (I promised not to use the full word). I never mention the sacks full.

Well, now then, it looks as though quite a number of our major british companies must be run by boards not occupied by responsible directors but by barrow boys.

We have heard reports over the last week of the chaos in the GKN boardroom. Now it emerges that the board of Carillion knew the full extent of the trouble they were in, while still talking up the company's prospects.
And some weeks ago we heard how Bovis Homes offered buyers up to £3,000 to legally complete on unfinished homes in a failed attempt to meet its target completions and city forecasts.

It's refreshing therefore to see a Board of Directors like that at Melrose who don't overhype the prospects, or the share price, or rearrange the figures, but just get on with the job.

Ahhh, Carlisle United, I'm the complete opposite end of the country, just like my portfolio, my team Argyle, have been surging upwards this year. Many interesting encounters over the years with Carlisle - none more so than this (Jimmy Glass......)

Meanwhile, I too would like to bury the hatchet.

While I’m a Melrose investor I don’t want GKN to be owned by foreign companies. Sadly I feel that the rapid sell off and breakup being advocated points in only one direction. Had the GKN board looked to restructure and be more be profit margin aware 5 years ago they wouldn’t be in this predicament now.

I too don’t like analysts forecasts. They are so often wrong. But many people do and that leads to a herd mentality so they are a small part of my analysis.

Finally, I’m actually a rugby man. Second row and number 8. So my team is Gloucester. Regarding football Sunderland and Hartlepool are a mystery to me. If I have to pick a team it’s Bristol City.

Yertiz, you need to resolve this dispute with brexitplus. I am a Carlisle United fan myself.
I'm not, though, a fan of broker forecasts. I think they just add 10% to the current price. If the GKN bid fails I would expect MRO to sink a bit before they find another target. I hope not though, I might need some money soon for another shop.
