They weren't anti-English at all. Just anti-BREXIT.

Tell us when you find a Brexit benefit will you. :)

Bobby

I advise you to stay off this thread or it will be ruined for genuine holders. You have been warned.

So one has to form an opinion as to whether government will object. I doubt they will. Even if they do, with the eventual return to normality (if it happens) this share would be expected to return to these sorts of levels ANYWAY. Plus, I doubt one has to wait as long as Q3 2022 to get a decent annualised return. As the obstacles remove, as sellers who bought in lower sell out, institutions will be happy to mop up these at levels closer to 800p.

10% is a good return for a year, not many companies paying that in divi's. Risk is deal fails at some point but that's why the opportunity exists.

Just popped on here to see if this is worth a buy to get near 10% upside, and I see the main options as:

1) Bid goes through, and completes as per the RNS "It is expected that the Acquisition will complete during Q3 of 2022, ..."

2) UK Govt. puts a stop on the takeover - price retreats

3) Another buyer (or more) enters the fray - >10% premium

Although the 10% is not to be ignored, as it will be a year before completion, monies are therefore tied up for this period.

Sure, care to enlighten us why? That is, if you are capable. :)

I would have thought it was obvious it isn't likely to be a great move from Meggitt's perspective unless you are in for a fast buck. I'm glad you didn't furlough anyone, kudos to you.

I care about the youth very much but I'm not going to consume my life fighting millions of UK morons and chimps. They are all going to have to find out the hard way I'm afraid - it is the best lesson.

We've done alot of work for Parker Hannifin in recent years & it wasn't the best run company. Too many chiefs and not enough indians. They'd spend all their time screwing you for pennies whilst they blew £'s on their own inefficiencies. They seem to grow by buying up good companies. I've no idea how good the Meggitt management team are but I'm not sure despite their job assurances this is a great move.

Nothing. There will be a vote of shareholders and if they approve then when the deal goes through you get the 800p, as long as you don't sell the shares in the meantime.

You should be able to vote through the 'corporate actions' facility that your broker should run, if you have it enabled (sometimes you need to enable getting notifications of corporate actions, AGMs etc inside your broker's internet site - Interactive Investor certainly requires customers to enable that facility).

On the other hand, I imagine most of MGGTs shares are held by institutions so your vote won't amount to diddly, so you can sit on your hands if you like and just let events take their course. You'll still get the 800p when the deal goes through (assuming all the corporate investors in MGGT vote 'yes').

You can't negotiate a deal direct with Parker-Hannafin, take your 800p and bail out before the deal goes through.

Other than that, sell now and take the market price. It's not 800p because there is the time value of money to take into account, the market price will close towards 800p as time gets nearer to the deal date.

The very fact you are on ADVFN and not consumed by your own company tells me you are either not a focused person and/or your company isn't up to much.

Of course I want change but it isn't going to happen in the UK, sadly. Most of the electorate are morons. I'm not going to waste my time teaching the chimp cage how to grow bigger bananas, way too stressful and a waste of time. That doesn't stop me from writing an opinion on ADVFN.

Thanks for the advice but as you don't have an engineering company anymore and I do possibly you should stop giving advice & worry about yourself and not me.
If you can actually read you'd have seen that I congratulated you on your morals. Unfortunately it turns out they are empty and full of ideology. If you want change do something about it ....argh I bet it doesn't pay as well as being an unearned income day trader. I get it

What has the success of my company got to do with investing ? If your LSE company was so great why aren't you still running it instead of becoming an 'unearned income' day trader. Typical champagne socialist. Take the bits of capitalism that suits you & continue to tell yourself you are still a man of the people. I hope your much loved LSE company doesn't get swallowed up by a foreign buyer ? You don't care you've got your money out that you now use to be a full time investor. I'll continue to employ people and create wealth don't worry.

Any reason why this deal would fall through? Quick money to be made from the discount if not.
