17/2/2016 09:20 | Mornin TF, yes would be very nice to see more of these bigger players putting skin in the game. Very good news | ![]() deka1
17/2/2016 09:10 | Ruffer's 2.4m purchase volume is very significant between 2/2 to 15/2. Probably accounts for ~25% of the overall purchases (assuming equal Buys and Sells and allowing for ~20% traded on Chi-X). Underscores Justin's comment about Ruffer being married to their MML position! Articles like this featuring Ruffer Gold Fund on yesterday's TrustNet won't do any harm: hxxp://www.trustnet. 17/2/2016 06:10 | Cheers for the link Eintracht , good watch, see the gold price had a $20 move down and back up during the session, strange days indeed, the last guy spesking on the link said he sees gold at 2000 or even 3000/oz going forward,i hope he's near the mark with that forecast . MML up 10% on lowish vol, the RUFFER new no doubt. | ![]() deka1
17/2/2016 03:08 | They have just announced a further increase in holdings tonight - now at 12.8m shares, 6.17%, up another 2.37m shares. | ![]() chipperfrd
17/2/2016 02:40 | how much do Ruffers have? I do not see them as one of the top 20 shareholders on the MML website | ![]() 4marlin

15/2/2016 22:13 | I think there is strong reason to suspect that JPM are now long gold, if they are recommending their clients to short it? As long as we stay at $1200 or thereabouts (or go higher), MML is severely undervalued IMO, and hopefully value will be realised in due course. GLA. | ![]() cyberbub
15/2/2016 13:05 | By the way, any of you looking for a decent Aussie publication should take a look at the "Crisis and Opportunity" newsletter produced by Greg Canavan of Port Philip Publishing (owned by Bill Bonner's Agora Group, who also own Moneyweek). I think he's a solid fundamental analyst who also uses basic technical analysis to avoid value traps and time entries and exits. My own personal favorite large Aussie midcaps are Evolution Mining (EVN) and Northern Star (NST). They are both currently ASX200 stocks and have seen powerful breakouts over the last two weeks (and were both in a stealth bull phase for most of last year). Please do your own research before investing though. For the last 14 months, the weakening Australian Dollar has provided a helpful tailwind for these producers. | ![]() jimbo55
15/2/2016 11:20 | FWIW the following is recent comment on gold from IC's The Trader... Friday 12/2: A seriously scary rally as the desperate pile in. Small UK bullion dealers reporting a record number of buy orders and the market is stupidly overbought. Be very careful when things stampede. Monday 15/2: This year’s massive rally, with the biggest bullish monthly candle in a year, has retraced half of the losses since May 2013’s interim high. It appears to have come to a juddering halt and will now drift for at least a fortnight. | ![]() speedsgh
15/2/2016 08:34 | All a bit odd, because the USD hasn't risen significantly in the last couple of days... is it just shorter coming in to knock gold down after it has become a bit overbought? | ![]() cyberbub
15/2/2016 07:56 | Being smacked down further... The Americans still don't want it to rise... Let's see if 1200 holds hopefully... NAI | ![]() cyberbub
15/2/2016 02:03 | I was planning to buy another tranche of MML tonight but once Globex came on line both Gold and Silver were clobbered, particularly Silver, down 2.5% very quickly. I will therefore wait and see what happens to the miners on the LSE Monday. I had already closed out quite a few CEY & HGM positions last week (with profits held as free shares, as is my way) so will now see if some of those can be bought back this week, assuming my dip margin is reached. Same goes for MML. Currently down 4.2%. Perhaps tomorrow night there will be a slightly better price. Either way, I wish to add more before the 1H16 financial report is released, so I will probably need to take action this week. Hope everyone has a good week. Chip | ![]() chipperfrd
14/2/2016 22:47 | Evening all. Good to read the interest in gold stocks that is awakening. I have been busy this weekend trying to answer a question posed on my comparison BB about Hummingbird (HUM) so have only just looked in here. If it is any help, I have been keeping a largish workbook on gold/silver producers which I update with annual/bi-annual financials when they are reported. Some of those included are listed on the ASX and I therefore have quite a chunk of data relating to them. I do still need to work through results to 31 Dec 2015 which should be appearing over the next month or so, but will be happy to pass on any conclusions/comparis So far, these are the Oz stocks I am currently monitoring: Beadell (BDR), Evolution (EVN), Kingsgate (KCN), Kingsrose (KRM), Medusa (MML), Newcrest (NCM), Northern Star (NST), Oceanagold (dual-listed as OGC on TSX), Perseus (PRU), Regis (RRL), St Barbara (SBM), Silverlake (SLR). 14/2/2016 20:20 | Hi cyber me too , no probs, good service, | ![]() deka1
14/2/2016 19:23 | Yes I use TD Direct to buy ASX shares - very straightforward, just place an order and they are yours! And only a standard £12.50 fee per trade. I don't find the FX rates too bad either, maybe 1% more expensive, but I am not looking for a 1% profit in MML. NAI | ![]() cyberbub
14/2/2016 17:41 | Hi Paul, Another UK broker that deals readily on ASX is Jarvis Investment Management; they offer regular, ISA and SIPP accounts. I simply telephone deal, ASX cost is £35 (rather than £9.50 for LSE); you can place limit orders running over several days with their dealer; so far Buys have been accurately executed, I haven't had cause to Sell yet. Forex costs seem reasonable (I could take a deeper look); custody fees average £4 per month. A pretty good service. Hi Justin, I look forward to seeing some other ASX ideas. I am comfortable for the time being in MML, but would like to diversify somewhat, if I can see a similar value/valuation anomaly. Ultimately I believe that the re-rating of MML will stall unless the management aspects are resolved; I think that process will take quite some time unless PoG flat-lines. Cheers, tightfist | ![]() tightfist
14/2/2016 17:36 | Justin Yes it is expensive but all in all I believe it's worth it I only subscribe to the 10 top tips, but if you can afford the $1,000 version all the comparisons of many Stocks must be very useful. If MML reaches $3.00 I may treat myself to the more expensive version. BL | ![]() bluelynx
14/2/2016 17:27 | Justin To add, it's true that Canadian and US quoted Gold Stocks are not as compelling bargains as Aussie ones but GSA has their own yard sticks which states their tips are under valued at current gold prices. On average they state their tips are about 40% under valued, that was at a gold price of $1,100. Therefore I believe when the gold price starts to improve I will hopefully be looking at gains of 400%. But I will certainly be very interested in your recommendations of Aussie Gold Shares similar to MML. One of the riskier tips of GSA and one that is showing a 30% profit is Golden Queen, the price moments can be quite large and sudden but it has held up quite well. | ![]() bluelynx |
