Imo, fossil fuels are going to be the main power source for many decades to come. Forget net zero , it won't be happening in any of our lifetimes. The idea that alternative energy sources eg battery, wind, solar etc. can satisfy demand is ludicrous. Maybe the only contender is nuclear....and this can only be utilised for certain applications. Added to which it carries with it other politically sensitive issues..eg. Germany has closed all their nuclear power stations.
