I was considering picking some up @ 140p, the chart up until May looked so promising. So even more reticent now!

A well run company would be buying cheap shares back and cancelling them.

I had the very same thought LG, but bottom watching is very tricksy and fraught with danger. I'm doing nowt - monies in time to wait.

Would it be too much to hope that the bottom is now in and the shares are showing just a touch more strength in the market? Or am I seeing a ghost in the works?

Did you practice forestry in the Sahara forest? Some shrewd forestry
action there.

Football? They spent money on FOOTBALL? Oh, I could WEEP!

The horror, the horror!

I suspect that, in my entire life, I have spent more time cutting down trees in my garden than playing or watching football. I have a very small number of trees in my garden. The number is at least greater than zero, but that still allows for a very small number of trees.

The advantage of a tree is that it exists without my spending any money at all. One does not have to purchase a season ticket, or ask Virgin Media to install some boxes in one's home, in order to watch a tree.

"A survey of 3000 people carried out by Deloitte found UK consumers tightened their belts in Q3, cutting spending on leisure activities. Restaurants were the worst hit, spending falling 8 per cent in the three months to September versus that a year ago. Drinking in pubs and cafes was down 5 per cent, culture and entertainment off 6 per cent. As well as wages failing to keep up with inflation they noted a trend for millennials to prioritise big-ticket spending, like holidays and football matches, making sport the only category not to suffer, reports City AM."

It was an article by Phil Oakley looking at safety of dividends for various high yield stocks. In what was a thinly veiled puff for his Share Pad, he reckons Marstons divi is safe. Phew!

Can't see anything new on the IC website. Just this from a couple of weeks ago...

Marston's looks too cheap (11/10/17) -

IC VIEW:
True, there is considerable uncertainty about the outlook for the UK economy. But trading at seven times forecast earnings and offering a 7 per cent yield, we think the future is unlikely to be quite as dire as suggested by Marston’s 107p share price. Buy.

Clearly a slow day when progress is being made in tenth of a penny increments. At least it's progress in the right direction. I'll drink to that.
