Another lockdown would be the Government's "biggest blunder", according to the chairman of Ocado.Lord Stuart Rose, the former executive chairman of Marks & Spencer, described the 10pm curfew that has been imposed on pubs and restaurants across England, Wales and Scotland for more than a fortnight as "bungled".It demonstrated ministers' "lack of foresight and strategic thinking" and risked millions of workers losing their jobs, he claimed.Writing in The Mail on Sunday, Lord Rose said there was little evidence that a second national lockdown would be beneficial, echoing concerns raised by fellow business leaders.

More lock downs?By JOHNREDWOOD | Published: OCTOBER 12, 2020Today if the government proposes more lock downs it needs to answer these questions:Why have cases risen for so long in places already under local lock downs? What is the exit strategy from lock down, and how do you avoid growth in the virus again if lock downs work?Is there local buy in to the lock down, as it needs consent to work.

Lockdown creates unemployment, mental health(Debs and Robot classic examples) But without jobs and ability to see family and friends life is pretty gloomy-vaccines are not far away though and with over 190 trials WW lots will flood the market. I hope we come out the other end with much more work that improves the environment and reductions in co2 omissions. Let’s pray we can once again trust what’s around us and breathe!

Edinburgh Wool Mill on the brink, but its likely Philip Day will do a pre-pack with a reduced store portfolio and huge job losses.

I cannot see Bon Marche surviving with its bricks and mortar stores, its likely the GOV restrictions will be the nail in the coffin for that part of the business. Ponden Mill looks at risk of closure as well. As for Edinburgh Wool Mill some stores may survive but I suspect much of the portfolio will be reduced.
