Footsie 100 gone red, 250 falling and oil price falling. UK gilt yields 2 year and 5 year circa 12%.

All the above suggests a bleak economic outlook.

Not certain about that interpretation.

They have altered the way they disclose the data and a far better way of looking at deaths is looking at excess deaths compared to a previous period. Deaths have fallen off a cliff so to speak which probably suits the GOV.

But deaths only one factor, if someone gets seriously ill they may not fully recover from the virus just like can happen with pneumonia which can cause scarring on the lungs.

I have known a number of people who have had pneumonia and they have been left with long term breathing problems and if its the same with coronavirus it can seriously affect people long term.

John Lewis is to report its interims this Thursday, all eyes will be on the results, they are bound to report a loss due to lockdown which shut shops and there will probably be a write down of property assets.

Whatever they say will have an impact on all listed retailers particularly MARKS.

John Lewis no longer gives weekly updates to trading.

Coronvirus has now quadrupled in the last month in care homes

The GOV is now on the back foot infections will continue to rise due to easing of lockdowns and if the GOV doesn't tighten restrictions further the virus will become incontrollable.

Good morning robot

Marks investors will be sweating this week heat or not as the share price is teetering on the edge of a £1.

With a SAGE expert saying the virus is now getting out of control this is bound to hit retailers and restaurants and pubs.

The at out rishi dishi meals were a mistake imo the GOV putting the wrong measures in place.

Former chief scientific adviser has warned the UK is “on the edge of losing control” of coronavirus.

Sir Mark Walport said the only way to stop the virus spreading is to reduce the number of people we all come into contact with, adding that there is an “extremely strong argument” that home working should continue.

Coronavirus update in last 24 hours:

3,497 positive tests

884 in hospital

77 on ventilators

141 admissions

9 deaths

Comment;

Infection rate slightly smaller than yesterday but still well over the GOV target of 1,000 positive test a day which is a grim tally and if this rate rises and or increases in hospital admissions more restrictions will be put in place.

The GOV warnings and rise in infections will have an impact on the High Street and bound to have an impact on consumer spending.

Retailers are now out of favor but hard products like TV's and technology may do better than clothes.
