M&S has been named the UK’s most prominent online grocery brand, beating the likes of Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s to the top spot.

According to the research from Salience Search Marketing, M&S is the market leader when it comes to brand awareness within the online grocery sector, with over 4 million searches per month and an owned social score of 14,368.

While Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s had more brand searches per month (at 7.5 million, 6.1 million and 5 million respectively), M&S far outweighed them when it came to its social score.

M&S hires Morrisons director to head up its central store operations

Wall, who said last month she would be leaving the supermarket after over a decade, will take up her new role at the high-street giant in August.

Wall has held a range of roles at the grocer, contributing significantly to its tranformation, including the design and rollout of format and range localisation, building the Market Street offering and service, as well as being one of the team who led the company through Covid-19.

Sorted Group Holdings Plc

("Sorted" or the "Company" or the "Group")

Renewal of M&S Contract

Sorted Group Holdings Plc (AIM: SORT), a leading provider of delivery experience and post-purchase technology, is pleased to announce it has entered into a 12-month renewal agreement with the retailer Marks and Spencer Group PLC ("M&S"). The renewal marks a continuation of M&S's commitment to accelerating the growth and consistency of its delivery operations underpinned by Sorted's cloud-based technology, and is based on a continuation of the commercial terms of the existing agreement.

The Company has enjoyed a successful partnership with M&S since 2021. The retailer uses Sorted's 'Ship' carrier management software to integrate its carrier services across multiple distribution centres into one platform, and Sorted's 'Track' post-purchase experience software to monitor performance across in-flight shipments, enabling the retailer to own the customer delivery communication experience.

Carmen Carey, CEO of Sorted, commented: "Marks & Spencer has a long legacy of providing brilliant customer experiences, and the move to an increasingly online world shouldn't disrupt that. We are thrilled to be a part of their journey, and the renewal is recognition of our continued partnership and approval of our strategy."

Marks & Spencer to launch TV series to find UK’s “next top designer”

Marks & Spencer has revealed plans to launch a competitive new TV series called 'M&S: Dress The Nation' on ITV1 and ITVX, to be hosted by presenters Vernon Kay and AJ Odudu and set to air in autumn 2024.

The winner of the show "will secure a life-changing job as a junior designer at Marks & Spencer", and no formal qualification or training in fashion design is required to take part.

The series will document the search process from start to finish over the course of six episodes. A total of 10 candidates will compete to secure the highly coveted in-house design role – "working alongside some of the best designers in the industry" at the retailer's colleague support centre in Paddington, London.

The retailer wants to hear from "people of all walks of life" and says that creative flair, a willingness to learn and a passion for design are more important than a formal qualification.

Over the course of the recruitment process, the 10 candidates will be set a series of briefs which will assess their design, problem-solving, commerciality and collaboration skills.

Re Ocado...

‘This positive trading comes after a long period of disappointing performance and you can understand Marks & Spencer’s frustration – when it agreed the tie-up with Ocado in 2019 it set targets which have subsequently not been met...At least the turnaround efforts at Ocado Retail appear to be bearing fruit.’

Marks & Spencer was up 1.7%.

I think it is a strong possibility Marks don't want Holly now she is no longer on prime time TV and there are better people out there now. Time to move on MKS no longer need here now.

M&S pulling out of Crawley main shopping area, according to a local rag. Speculation that the level of theft is one of the main reasons. I'd say they are the last prestigious retailer to move out, leaving Crawley to continue its decline.
