Seems some are desperate to see a business fail… hopefully Typo is still short and waiting for 25p, it’s had a huge fall from grace but was never going to disappear that quickly.

Very well worded - but, revenue down, profit down , stock was dumped below cost as an emergency as per the exception costs . The business now neeeds to keep customers without spending on them, whereas churn has been increasing. The positive is the rcf has extended their facility , will be a rocky ride here

IG stopped taking new short positions in WINE on Friday (14 Oct). I'm not sure what, if anything, you can read into that.

You're right on the risk management. I'm not loading up, but I see 40p or so by mid October pending the update. Anyone buying up seems to have Morgan Stanley selling in to them. This is one to leave open and let run in my view.

IG are still taking shorts. I've a feeling this time next month we'll be regretting not loading up to the brim. However, need to be sensible as there's no such thing as certainty and shorts could get called in.

Boe too, it was nice to have ig open shorts briefly. Us sold off last thing from the detail in the fed numbers. Us consumers will be hit hard by the fed rates and usdgbp will hit wine even harder.

Might see a nice bounce here tomorrow. Markets love the fed hike.

IG are still taking shorts this morning.

If you want to trade bounces but want to ensure you can get shorts back on it may be an idea to open a short position while you can and hedge it with longs in another account (e.g. an ISA - being AIM there's no stamp duty)

What good can gormless Gormley do to help?

Seems the board are clueless? or gormless?

Naked is now valued at just over 10% of what it was over a year ago. That tells you how "safe" this is viewed by the market.

You can't say it's a saving and 100% safe when it isn't. The concept makes sense like you say, but it 100% is not 100% safe, that's just no correct at all.

I mean people are putting money in to buy wine, no? They'll still be able to buy wine? And if they want to take it out, they might be offered their money or the opportunity to buy more wine at an even cheaper price? This isn't cash ISAs we're talking about, it's prepayment for wine, which they can still buy. The whole model is based on prepayment for wine, and they explain that clearly.

The butler - exactly. And their website says "your savings are 100% safe". I think there is risk of litigation once someone takes a look at it.

The angel deposits could be a bit of a worry. In the latest results the angel deposits were £76 million which weren't covered by the cash balance of £40 million [whereas the prior year the angel deposits of £70 million were covered by cash of £85 million).

So if there is a run on Naked with everyone wanting a refund of their deposit, there wouldn't be enough cash. Looks like this is a disaster waiting to happen.

Gormley doesn't know this business at all. It was a different animal when he was in charge. This was always going one way after the Naked deal.

Unbelievablely I've now read the t&c's of angel deposits with naked. These are not treated as client monies , and are not ringfenced... Naked uses the money to invest in new wines / spending. They say your money is safe as it has a parent guarantee on it... well that's worth nothing in distress. I'm actually shocked this is the case ?? This happened with the saving clubs historically leading to client monies regulation. I guess if there's some really bad things about to happen it could well be around here? Anyone think my interpretation of the t&cs is incorrect ??

Wine from Tescos don’t even come close to the standard supplied by Naked . I’ve done a tasting test with supermarket wines vs N.wines. Supermarket wines don’t compete. I’d rather drink less wine and have the quality. Plus they have a quarantine that if you don’t like a certain bottle , then they issue you a refund. I’m sticking with Naked Wines!
