Anyone read anything ito departure of FD. Announcement made after hours and might cause a twitch downwards tomorrow?.

I still do consider them an excellent top up but am just wondering about the timing..

Hosede,

Did the same thing, sold a portion locking in a quick 35%, still good value at todays level.

If it drops back to the fifties, than happy to pick them up again.

Sold a part of my holding at 60.75p bought at 45 in mid April. After the very fast rise was expecting a bigger retracement - no doubt the rise was triggered by "insiders" who knew about todays announcement - so presumably this news should be taken as positive. Still feel it may drift back to mid fifties when I will be adding

Some coverage on the Co. on citywire today with a few interesting comments from the CE, including:

'Wilson said the move should enable the company to sustain profitability, and, importantly, to sustain its dividend....... While trading currently was 'not brilliant, very constrained,' the trend was now a bit 'more predictable, more stable.... People are buying, but projects are still being delayed or scaled down, and like so many businesses at the moment, Wilson does not really expect any significant upturn for the next twelve to eighteen months.'
Wilson said both sides of the business were stable, and the company has received some good orders for both in its third quarter to March, but 'not as much as we'd like, demand is still dampened,'

Final conclusion as follows:

We tipped Marco 4 last July at 61p and called the top of the run in September at 100p. This is still a well established software company with two very good product lines and good management, and there is no reason to think it won't weather the current storms.

At today's price the shares are rated at just 5 times next year's consensus earnings and 6 times the lowest estimate. Add to that the dividend yield, assuming the current dividend can be maintained, and there seems no reason not to hang onto shares, or even to buy in with a longer term recovery in mind.

Suppose its best to take the statement at face value - feel Im probably being a bit paranoid after the long bear market.... Have been wondering whether to add of late and may do so on any weakness.

In previously year, MAO only gives profit warning when the market's forecast is out of line with their estimates. This recent announcement relates specifically to cost reductions.

So I assume that MAO are happy with Arbuthnot Securities forecast of £2.5M(before exceptionals & goodwill) and EPS 8p for y/e 30/6.

£4M is a big cost saving equivalent to 13p per share. So the potential for a large increase in earning is good.

Don't know quite how to take todays announcement. Thought it might be a profit warning in disguise at first but the market doesn't seem to have reacted that way. The fact they've had to take this action suggest tradings still tough though.

Wondered if the 1.4m hit will affect the ability/committment to pay the full divi this year?

On the other hand 4m savings should have a big impact on a full years trading.

With only about 6 weeks to go to year end, they didn't issue an actual warning that profits would be below expectations though, so at least that's something.

Any thoughts?

Another megajump today - its beginning to look like "insider" trading. As you say the fantastic yield is already down by about a third

Looks to me like people are picking up on the favourable risk/reward here.

Lets face it, if the next figures show they might make it through the current IT downturn and survive in any sort of reasonable shape, they're still dirt cheap.

And the 'fantastic yield' mightn't be around for too much longer either if this price action keeps up!

Flying today - is something in the wind? Surely all this rise is not because a director bought 268 shares!!

Fantastic yield - assuming the dividend is held Penpont! The current price suggests most people think it won't be. If it is there will certainly be a substantial advance in the price. Keep fingers crossed

A move up, albeit minor, seems to have started. Am tempted to add for the fantastic yield alone.

At present I'm assuming that no news is good news - it'll be interesting to see if in the run up to the end of June they can avoid a profit warning -if they can they look a serious buying opp at this price.

Unlike a lot of similar small techs, it has stubbornly refused to move up in the last couple of weeks - a bit disappointing. There has been no news for quite a while. In a 60 ish and again recently at 42
