10/3/2011 07:30 | Having said that, nice entry on here, grouping together all of Firebird's Fluorspar mines. | suits you
09/3/2011 22:41 | Davidoff is also on the board of Mongolian Co Berkh-Ull edit Could not find details of any Firebird investment in Berkh-Ull but doubt Davidoff would be on their board without Firebird being invested. | suits you
09/3/2011 08:12 | profit; Boris, but obviously I am only doing a bit doodling.... | dreggspicker
08/3/2011 22:25 | We really have no way of knowing how many shares will be issued in the Co when we relist. I would not discount the possibility of a share consolidation as part of the AIM document and also again mention the possibility of a name change. If we are to be the holding Co for more ( Firebird) Fluorspar assets, Mahgreb Minerals, seems too centralised to a region of Africa and hardly seems adequate, but WDIK. ........ but hopefully Passin and Davidoff will. In mean time some old stuff but interesting info on the past, with Alcoa, Alcan and Du Pont mentioned. Wonder if they have been trying to re-kindle, past contacts. Again some info here out of date here but gives a guide as to what may be achieved with the right management in place. "Witkop, located on almost 8 000 hectares of property, is a hard rock mining operation, using traditional load and haul operations to move ore from mining areas to the crusher. Its production capacity is 10 000 to 15 000 tonnes per month of saleable product from 150 000 tonnes of ore and 150 000 tonnes of waste" Although Buffalo not in the plan (YET) some useful production could be achieved if they can reorganise it into a profitable operation. Tailings re-treatment operation runs at between 50 and 100 tonnes per day, producing between 3 000 and 4 000 tonnes per month of saleable product, with a capacity to produce 6 000 tonnes. | suits you
08/3/2011 21:05 | DP are you suggesting 1.3p per share profit, (and therefore added to the exiting notional price of 1.5p), or 1.3p share value. i.e. are you expecting the price to drop from 1.5p ? | borisimo
08/3/2011 19:51 | or a rough 1.3p per share.... | dreggspicker
08/3/2011 16:19 | prices still firming up, lets just say we achieve $150 profit per ton on say a production of say 50,000 tonnes, then the profit for the year would be around $ 8.75 million...... ish :-} | dreggspicker
07/3/2011 21:32 | Looks like the new management at Sallies will adopt a lean and mean approach at Witkop, better production with less staff and costs seems to be order of the day. Advantage of total shut down with just care and maintenance, when you start again, it is easier to adopt new working practices. | suits you
07/3/2011 18:32 | Note "Cooke said prices in China were more than $400 a dry ton". | godolphin
06/3/2011 22:23 | Godolphin Thanks for the correction (twice). Need to slow down :-) Indeed, could be a repeat order. Tonnage is a big coincidence, if not. | suits you
06/3/2011 22:19 | The only other fluorspar producer is SA is Vergenoeg. I can't find much info except they were reducing production in 2009 and had a strike in 2010. I presume it hasn't been worth them producing either. They are controlled my a Spanish company. Interestingly Gavin Clarke ran Vergenoeg and now runs Sallies! | godolphin
06/3/2011 22:03 | 5500 tonnes? A bit slow, maybe it's a repeat order! That's 80,000 tonnes stockpiled btw. | godolphin
06/3/2011 21:13 | 500 tons of Fluorspar on the move from SA to India, ready 8th March. Too early to be from Witkop. maybe not, according to this report about 8000 tons of ore were stockpiled, from blasting last year. Still doubtful its from Witkop. .................... More on rising prices, and uses One way to guarantee supply, buy your own mine | suits you
05/3/2011 22:22 | Would not be surprised to see an all paper offer or combined paper/cash offer at some stage for the remainder of KFC which is a privately held Co, not listed on any exchange. Owners could benefit by accepting MMS paper, thereby securing their shareholding in a listed Co, with the growth potential of consolidation in the sector. Which afterall, is Firebird's mission, according to all recent statements. | suits you
05/3/2011 10:48 | sorry folks for my old news, I had forgotten it had already reopened! Still, the video of the plant shows it is a modern plant, and not just a few jigging tables in an old cow shed...... | dreggspicker
05/3/2011 09:18 | Dreggs Perhaps they get more for Flour than Fluor .... :-) Looks like production started again last June, prices up considerably since then. Firms reap from rising demand for Kenyan minerals - Business Daily 5 Aug 2010 ... Rising fluorspar prices have led Kenya Fluorspar to reopen its ... 2 more days to get CV's in chaps .... :-) | suits you
04/3/2011 21:18 | Have to agree godolphin (4260), previous Sallies management were cr*p. The Honeywell fiasco is just but one example. Cannot see Passin and Davidoff repeating past mistakes. -------------------- Borisimo (4527) Thanks......... Been here so long, just a pleasure to think we might be getting somewhere at last!! | suits you
04/3/2011 20:56 | looks like our Tom Dale has to do a part time job these days to supplement his position at Sallies..... ;+} | dreggspicker
04/3/2011 20:15 | YouTube video of the closure of the Kenyan mine, lets hope it reopens soon for everyone's benefit; dreggs WARNING there's some choice language in the written thread at the bottom of this page! It is not me..... | dreggspicker
04/3/2011 11:42 | It appear that they spent all the cash (R24m) in the six months. But certainly seem to have resolved all the issues. The last management must have been pretty useless! | godolphin
04/3/2011 11:24 | Nice tax refund... 'These issues were heard in the Tax Court in November 2010 and in a written judgement handed down in January 2011, the judge ruled in Sallies' and Witkop's favour in all material respects. Subsequently, notification has been received from SARS that it does not intend appealing the judgement. As a consequence provisional payments amounting to R6.7 million will be refunded to the group'. | borisimo
04/3/2011 11:21 | Sallies Update | borisimo
04/3/2011 00:57 | Good find(s) SY. Liking your research alot...never thought I could get excited about 'expecation management', but this all looks very encouraging. | borisimo |
