Just need to see that the technology actually works and we have a step change (or more likely one of the big miners stepping in to buy them double-quick!)

Lol falling about laughing at that one .this is Aim and is extremely well regulated by some .
Unless there is a 5 metre electrified fence around the site and no one is allowed out then someone must know if the units are currently ,not working /or producing diamonds by the bucket full.
Greed being the thing that drives many humans, then it seems sensible that if the news is out it will be used to someones advantage.

New is imminent? Are you suggesting that prices move "PRIOR" to news hitting the market?
Surely that sort of thing doesn't happen on a well regulated market like the LSE?

They stated that they were going to get the generators after the plant start up which was expected end of May .the delay in start up was blamed on outages of electical supply .
i would guess the power to run the plant could be transported in 3 ? containers . Not a lot of problem to move them to site surely .
Full ask gone through at 2.5p and tick up .Either the mms are reading this board and playing games with share price or news is imminent ?

The equipment was all delivered and ready (according to all info in the public domain) end April, but power problems prevented it from being used.
I understood the latest was a series of generator implementations to remove the dependancy on the electrical supply.
These things can take months with good infrastructure, so I would be expecting news later July at the earliest, unless of course the original power problems have been somehow resolved?

My concern at present with DTEC is that there is clearly a large seller out there - maybe even an Institution - every time the price goes up, or sometimes even when it doesn't, the seller unloads - until this has finished, we will not see the share price rise.
We badly need to get rid of Corvus as holders, and get some quality Institutions on board - easier said than done in the current climate !

Hi Masure,
As you correctly say,at present there is clearly a large seller out there - see today's trade below for selling £40k at 2p - but, I supect the mm's already have buyer for the shares at this low price, otherwise the share price would have collapsed today. I have seen a few other large sells go through recently without adversely affecting the SP, so, I suspect a large shareholder, perhaps even an Institution, is unloading, probably through neccessity rather than desire. If it should be an Institution who have been in since the beginning, they would probably have bought at par, and will not therefore be making a loss, although it will give them a large write down in the valuation on their books.
If this is the case, we may not see a share price increase until the seller has finished - so, depending how you view it, there is potentially a buying opportunity at the present price.

Steve

"Production update.
The Company announced on 31 March 2008 that it was on schedule to meet its production plan to have ten laser recovery units ("LRUs") operating on site and that the large-scale up-front plant was in line to be commissioned and ready for production at Grasfontein by the end of April 2008.
The Company is pleased to report that the LRUs are completed and are ready to be incorporated into the final sorting phase (the "sort houses") of the new large-scale plant on the Grasfontein site.
Unfortunately the power outages being experienced in South Africa recently, which have been widely reported, have caused delays on the part of the manufacturer of the up-front plant. As such the final phase of the up-front plant, which involves the installation of the conveyor system to transport the run of mine material to the sort houses, has only commenced on-site commissioning this week and management expects this to be completed by the end of May 2008 barring any further unexpected disruptions. Once this final phase has been completed the large-scale plant will be in production.
The Company has also taken the decision to install an on-site generator in order to meet the power requirements of the new plant and accordingly, once the plant is operational, production will not be interrupted by any Eskom Grid power outages in the area.
Diamond recoveries to date.
The Company commenced mining operations using its exploration processing plant, which operates two LRUs, at Grasfontein at the end of October 2007. Sample mining operations have been focused on the tailings deposits on Grasfontein and recovered grades and are in line with management expectations, supporting management's confidence in the operational performance of the LRUs.
Recovered diamonds will be sold on tender during the coming months at the appropriate time which will provide the Company with its first revenue.
Further production updates will be provided in due course as sufficient production data from the new plant becomes available.
Commenting on the progress to date, Adriaan Botha, Chief Operating Officer, said:
"We are delighted with our progress in terms of the manufacture and development of the LRUs, as well as the performance of the LRUs on the exploration processing plant. We have however been frustrated by the delays being experienced by our suppliers due to the continued power outages in the area, which have resulted in the delay in commissioning the new plant. We look forward to completing the new plant over the course of next few weeks and commencing large scale production at Grasfontein."
