06/3/2018 09:57 | I think the real reason remains the same as in the December warning - unhedged / ineffectively hedged copper prices which account for 40% of cost of sales and a breakdown in the so-called 'natural' hedge between USD and CNY. I don't buy the comment about expensing costs - this is just another smokescreen from the CEO who is completely inept at communication. | mammyoko
06/3/2018 09:49 | The 15 Dec warning - shortly after the CEO had unloaded - was blamed essentially on "an incorrect valuation of stock", hence the financial controller's resignation, now the narrative is that trading conditions have "remained difficult" partly to justify why 2018 pre-tax profit is guided down from £21 million to £12-14.5 million. Presumably it's down to a finance guy again, e.g. the new CFO taking a more rigorous view of capitalised costs. | edmondj
06/3/2018 09:32 | New lows coming | john09
06/3/2018 09:27 | Numis The update is disappointing but not a major surprise given the state of the UK retail market and the uncertainties at the time of the December statement. Actions taken are gaining traction and we now have guidance for 2018 albeit a relatively wide range. We still see a group capable of around 10% growth and 12% margins. This would suggest a PE of at least 12-13x 2019 earnings of 10p i.e. 120p-130p. | opodio |
