From a recent Gartner report on Unified Communications as a Service:

"Different channel partners offer different Cisco UCaaS options. Many continue to promote Cisco HCS options based on older architectures, which may not benefit from some of Cisco’s latest innovations for the Webex portfolio.

Cisco is losing UCaaS mind share to Microsoft, RingCentral and Zoom. These competing vendors are each focused on a single cloud UC platform."

I think Cisco has a lot of catching up to do. The key question here is whether Microsoft will maintain its position. I think it will and therefore LoopUp being a Microsoft Gold Partner and with its emphasis on premium quality direct routing for Microsoft Teams and its cloud video conferencing experience should do well.

Caught part of Ian Scott on ITV interview with CTO of Cisco just now - They are significantly expanding their on-line conferencing offering - Probably (imo) further pressure on Loop -Cisco could be a major disruptor to all current offerings.

Only thing I can think of is some sort of impairment on the amortisation, not that I understand it that well. Big chunk of amortisation last year because they capitalised all R&D costs. That's based on the R&D giving future returns, like cap spend on a production line. If those future returns don't happen, or look unlikely to happen, then the basis for being allowed to capitalise R&D in the accounts might change. In which case the P&L account will take a hit.
