Although the results should be good, the forward looking statement is going to be anything but good, hence the weakness. Has the bad news been factored in ? I doubt it.

According to the LSE website , there were two big purchases today : at 12.41.47 , 288,909 shares bought at 77.6p , for a total consideration of £ 224,190 ; at 12.49.34 , 200,000 shares bought also at 77.6p , for a total consideration of £ 155,200 . So far today , LSE reports only 16,706 shares sold against 528,521 shares bought ( you might wonder why , with “ buys “ vastly outnumbering “ sells “ , the share price remains subdued ! ) . These facts , together with Net Average Value of 91p per share , recent director purchases , reasonable dividend yield , a low p/e , and hopes of a takeover bid at such low values motivated me to buy back in this afternoon .

UK New car registration figures for the month of June released today by SMMT.
Total 140,958. 24% down on June last year & the lowest June total since 1996.
Interesting that 6 months year to date, number of private buys is actually up year on year, whereas the biggest fall is in the Fleet market.

So short term these numbers are not too much of an issue for Motor retailers, as traditional fleet margins are so low. The supply of available units is being channeled
to private buyers with the consequence that retailers will be able to maximise the profits on each unit (ie not discounting).

The City like it so I am sticking in here and do like the value of their assets and cash at bank. I am looking at as a hold in the medium term as the car market should remain tight on supply so no discounting should keep profits up.

yes but they have been cautious hence now they state profit above expectations to come. 91p just for properties and cash means nothing in there for this. IMO.

I note a lot of positives, including high margin business, but the decline in used car sales may tempt price reductions. The comment about weighting to H1 sounds like they are concerned with H2. Overall I can see new cars won't be discounted so profits from that and servicing should help the, through possible reductions due to the current squeeze on households available cash.

Nice update. 91p cash and property alone.

Ali ~ big ticket items... stuff that are expensive. Eg. Upgrading your car to a new or a better second hand one.

These kind of luxuries are the first to go if there's cost of living pressures.

Market sentiment (dare I say it) is having positive days - you kidding me right? Mark et sentiment is very low, many stocks have been beaten up severely.

Anybody got any idea about the continued fall here?

19.9% of the shares bought ay 102p. That's +56% upside now from here.

250,000+ pounds worth bought recently by the CFO/COO/CEO/NED (in total).

Market sentiment (dare I say it) is having positive days, so not that either.

WTF is going on here... or just a time to top-up?

my rationale is that its cheap and the real estate by itself is worth the market cap. Anyway I'm in for a trade!
