Great to see you still here after my post no 2710 to you 6months ago seems to now be happening . Hopefully it's third time lucky in take over of lookers at least this time Tony Bramhall is on the opposite side to the last two attempts that fizzled out .

Lets see but I would be extremely surprised to see a bid for some months.....Marshall takeover still to be completed, and I concur with post 2927 re manufacturers & competition authorities.

Don't disagree that Lookers' days are numbered.....along with Pendragon....we live in interesting times!!!

Marshall Motor Holdings takeover by Constellation multiple was16.3x FY22 consensus in November 2021. #LOOK forecast eps 17.5p for FY21 and 10.3p for FY22. You do the math.
Strategic review update 13 March.
Lookers was a main buy last April

Who would not want to buy them? you get all that land worth 70p a share conservatively.

Net that out and at the current price you are only paying 22p a share for the business.

Absolutely right...was somewhat surprised to see it was Constellation again but I agree with you that this is just step 1 in a longer term plan.

Obviously plenty of dealers they can go for but not many listed companies currently....looking back quite a few long gone - Dagenham M, Dixon M, European M, William Jacks, Sytner, HR Owen plus more recently Cambria - what a bargain Laverty got!!!

Its been a great sector for me over the years, notwithstanding the many bumps (potholes!) along the way.....

Also Pendragon must be considered in play with 26% shareholding acquired by Swedish investor.....

....which pretty much only leaves Vertu - either so well run that it is untouchable or the ugly duckling that no one wants to know.

OK also Caffyns, which is pretty small and family controlled...

Pays your money, take your choice!!!

Probably become a slightly longer play. They will complete the Marshall’s acquisition and then presumably try to make sure that their manufacturer partners are comfortable with them consolidating lookers. Not guaranteed given the concentration. Also the competition authorities might start to take a bit more interest

Well I have had a few more on this morning's weakness.

The price action is now backstopped by Constellation.

Disagree. Constellation are buying all the cheap shares they can. They also seem to know what the strategy is which is under review and hasn't been announced yet.

A smart move from constellation they can bide their time, make the full move if/when they know they have the support of their dealer network and effectively block the other disrupters like Cazoo

Constellation Automotive buying 20% of the company at £1.02 owning BCA auctions and Cinch, got to be great news for existing shareholders!

Any notifiable trade effectively has to be announced within three trading days following the day on which a threshold is reached/moved thru. Two trading days to notify company who must then announce by end of next trading day I think
