12/5/2004 22:56 | "I am a big fan of Gerard Houllier. You just have to look at what he has achieved. The amount of trophies he has won is fantastic. I keep hearing the rumours about his future, and I can't understand it, or why he gets so much criticism. We're in the same boat fighting with Liverpool, but we have no trophies, they do". 12/5/2004 20:54 | Southampton will do the job on Newcastle and take the pressure off Houllier. But we need a new manager. I thought Houllier was the man at the time, but I reckon I was mistaken. BTW Snowmann - longtime no talk! | taimur

12/5/2004 18:54 | Just found these Thai proverbs and their meaning, not a patch on good old Chinese proverbs, but still amusing, well some of them. "When you don't dance well, you blame it on the flute and the drum." A bad workman blames his tools (this means when one fails in something, some people seek to put the blame on others). "Ten cowrie shells near at hand." A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush (this means that what you have is of, perhaps, more value than what you hope to have). "Don't turn over the rubbish to look for a centipede." Let sleeping dogs lie (this warns against awaking old problems which, although still there, are best left alone). "To cut the bamboo stem before you see the water." To count one's chicken's before they're hatched (this warns us against having high hopes for something which may never happen). "To get something, one must sacrifice something." You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs (this suggests we should never hope to gain all the time. We should not be too greedy but be satisfied with a compromise). "To die to spite the graveyard." To cut off one's nose to spite one's face (this warns us against making rash or impulsive decisions when angry because, at heart, we know them to be wrong). "To take face powder to sell to palace ladies." To carry coal to Newcastle (this means wasting one's time by doing something which is a fruitless effort). "Bad seven times, good seven times." Every cloud has a silver lining (this means, in times of difficulty, don't get downhearted because times ahead often prove better). "Escape from the Tiger; meet the Crocodile," To jump from the frying pan into the fire (this means that one misfortune can be compounded by another and there's practically nothing you can do about it -- except face up to it). "When you enter a town where people wink, wink as they do." When in Rome, do as the Romans do (suggests if you wanted to be accepted in a town or country you are visiting, do not be critical of established local customs or beliefs). | speny
12/5/2004 17:41 | abix, Thank you for your reply. The important thing is that all Liverpool supporters want what is best for the club - not for individuals inside or outside the club. We may all sometimes have different views about how the club should proceed but as long as we can disagree in a civilised way that can only be a positive thing. | the diviner
12/5/2004 17:09 | LOL!!!! IQ and Liverpool ROTFLMAO!!!!!!! | thenry
12/5/2004 17:02 | TD Whatever you say. I'm sure you are right. "The Liverpool skipper has been nothing short of sensational," claimed Aldridge. "I cannot say enough about the player. To put it simply he is one of the finest footballers I have ever seen. I have been watching football since the age of six and I have never seen a player produce the outstanding performances so consistently in the way he has done this season. And all that in a team that has been struggling. I have watched Liverpool's great players and I have played alongside some of Liverpool's great players. "Gerrard stands alongside Graeme Souness as the best midfielder the club has ever had. He has been a shining light this season. He deserves to be playing a side challenging for top honours and that is why it is so important the Reds finish fourth. The Champions League is where Steven Gerrard belongs." So Svens masterplan is to stick him on the wing? At least he's finally woken up to what a useful utility man Carragher is. | abix47
12/5/2004 16:21 | abix47, Unfortunately, once again you are wrong on a number of points. First you are wrong for your reproducing another's posts in an edited form. Second you are wrong for your tendency to become unpleasant whenever your IQ becomes visible. Third you are wrong about the Moores family's connection with Liverpool. Until David Moores inherited the family coffers the Moores family were in control at Everton. (Everton did not appear to benefit from their involvement). About 10 years ago David Moores, (through a series of shares issues that he had underwritten), ended up with over 50% of the shares and that was the first time in its history that Liverpool was virtually in the hands of one person. Liverpool has not won the league since David Moores became involved. If Steve Morgan does succeed that will IMHO benefit Liverpool FC and should be what is important to all Liverpool supporters. TD. | the diviner
12/5/2004 15:40 | Moores is not thinking of pool and is more interested in his personal control , seems to me . At least Morgan is a genuine pool supporter and is putting his money where his mouth is . Goona be very intersting to see who Houlolier buys though ;-)))) | snowmann
12/5/2004 13:04 | LOL POMME! | thenry |
