Thanks to L2B for sharing that case win & Farnes for the follow up post quantifying it's value. I've added after a long period of waiting for the breakout to occur, it now looks inevitable based on building fundamentals and technical price action.

Re. how much of the A$180m LIT can expect to receive, I'd be surprised if their fee wasn't 10-15% of commissions. Hopefully we'll get an RNS to confirm in the next few days.

Been tracking this stock for a long time. They are now delivering. This should break out in a big way now. Follow the (Aussie) bear.

From afr.com -

The insurers are also facing some internal challenges.

For instance, Suncorp is embroiled in a class action that kicks off in the Supreme Court of NSW on May 23, with the trial set down for five weeks.

The action against Suncorp Portfolio Services and two former directors, Geoff Summerhayes and Sean Carroll, alleges breaches of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act, and unconscionable conduct.

Litigation funder LCM is funding the class action to recover compensation for members of the super fund whose accounts were allegedly affected by commissions to financial advisers between July 2013 and June 2019.

Those commissions are estimated to be worth up to $180 million. Suncorp, which sold the super fund last year to LGIA Super, is defending the case.

There is also continued pressure on Suncorp to sell its bank and focus on its core business, general insurance.

The bank is a much lower growth and a lower returning business than the insurer based on the regulatory capital they need.

edit - based on the case being worth AUD 180m, what fee could LIT reasonably expect to receive?

Good news on the new agreement. Frustrating that haven't (can't?) give a ballpark for the size of the claim. Encouraging however its is "significant".

Yes - referred to as a "golden cross". A basic but popular buy signal.

All its going to take is for one big case win to send this stock flying and wake the market up...

Insider buying is a sign of confidence and long term this is my favourite company.

Economic cycle won't affect returns for LIT negatively..

Debt and revenue currency convergence is conventional. If for a company debt is considered an issue then equity shouldn't be touched with a barge pole. That isn't what we are talking here though, its funds available to equity and for this year at least holding value outside of Sterling is likely better than being in cash.
