Dudishes - Right, I'm giving you a down-tick for that. Optimism is not tolerated on this message board apparantly ;-) |
SB long at 401.
If 72p confirmed, it's a no brainer to gather some confetti, if possible? |
If they maintain the dividend this will be one hell of an investment |
... and that's 'at least 72 pence per share' more than the down-ticker will be getting lol. |
" First Interim dividend per share maintained at 22.0 pence. · The Directors intend to target a dividend of at least 72 pence per share for the year ending 31 March 2025." |
I believe they already mentioned they were looking to do at least 72p divi. While that was not a confirmed amount it is in their rns |
It's almost as if the share price was being held low to facilitate the buy-backs. |
Only 63m shares in issue now. If they increase AuM shareprice will go ballistic. But it's a big IF ;-) |
Looks like I spoke too soon. However the buy back was pretty small beer. The £5.00m cost was considerably less than the last dividend of 22p which cost £14.28m. The share price will probably sink from here while LIO decide whether to continue with a new buy back or bite the bullet and cut the final divi, or perhaps sit back and do nothing. Buy/sell/hold it's the usual decision. |
Thanks Waldron |
Graham there was quite a detailed discussion on this thread when they first announced this. LIO is burning almost all its excess cash and will be severely constrained in the future. |
Buy back must be close to finishing soon..... |
I've not been following this thread closely and so this point may have been covered already. Surely convention is that when a company is making a profit it rewards its shareholders with a dividend. If there is still surplus cash then it may well opt for a share buy back as well. The point I'm making is that the dividend comes first in line, and the buy back may or may not follow. Then if profits start to fall the buy back gets trimmed or stopped, and if times are really hard then the dividend is cut back or axed altogether.
I hope I'm not deluded here. But if LIO are still buying back shares it seems to follow that the dividend ought to be pretty secure. |

aye
buybacks seem to be a temporary support in most cases
as always hard to judge direction in these markets
might well fall until results day and or divi day approaches
news might clarify direction
in the meantime enjoy yer weekend and coming spring time
chuckle and cheers |
Any basic comments of where this is at and headed, buyback of £5m seems pointless to me. |
