08/3/2024 17:49 | marktime1231: I think LGEN Assets - Libabilities / market cap equals about 0.83 So, as its under one, its market cap is bigger than its NAV.... However its PE ratio is very low (profits as percentage of market cap) and its DIV high... Not only that but FTSE has been 10% behind DAX (of late) so its probably time for FTSE to do a bit of catch up.... And thus LGEN should rise as its a big part of FTSE. | netcurtains
08/3/2024 16:42 | Tempus has repeatedly recommended LGEN down the years and The Times is well read, a reminder of that is welcome. I expect this stock features on many buy lists as the new ISA window is about to open, and why not with a 6% pay day imminent. Yes we are due an up cycle but how far it goes is anyone's guess. Does LGEN have the equivalent of a tangible NAV to indicate minimum value? | marktime1231
08/3/2024 16:28 | Slightly kicking myself for not adding at 233 the other day (was waiting for 5p less) but hey ho. Onwards and upwards. With the odd dip (try and add on the next one). Sustained run up to X div in 6 weeks could see this closer to 300 than 250 (glass half full mode). | chiefbrody
08/3/2024 16:09 | Just another 4.5% and we'll be back to where we were at the start of the year. Another 23% will get us back to where we were just over 2 years ago. Just adding a bit of context! | zac0_4

08/3/2024 11:54 | Maybe that is something Simoes will set out in June. LGEN was a good business before the surge in DB PRTs, and besides the opportunity profit is not something which is all incurred on execution of PRT it is enduring. But yes let's hear the plan. International is my guess. | marktime1231
08/3/2024 10:03 | Thought for the day and June 12 - what to replace the DB PRT transfers I wonder - well we all wonder even though some years left of that gravy train yet. The answer - an equivalent assault perhaps on DC - yes why not derisk these too by selling deferred annuities which would look attractive at current interest rates - an equity based equivalent could be a with profits vehicle in deferral and in payment - yes a throwback to over 50 years ago - but why not and eventually a bigger market than DB and a customer centric solution allowing them to buy what they actually want - spend a £ now and fix what pension it provides guaranteed - this is right up L&G's street in the context of building the matching assets too - you heard it here first - spend a £x in your late 20s and get 25% pension at 65 plus bonuses - makes pension planning easier - I would buy that if only I was that age again. | andyble
08/3/2024 09:57 | Zac Its an adapted form of pound-cost averaging that avoids buying high, because there are always highs and lows on an index tracker, even as it rises generally over time. You won’t lose out as you might on a small growth company, because the index is not going to go vertical and leave you permanently behind. The examples I gave were of course extreme lows, but there’s loads of other milder ones. Its not something I’ve implemented because only did the exercise a few years ago - too late now. Did it because there are so many assumed strategies that have become cliches or incomplete assumptions. Eg. “Buying company shares and holding forever”. We don’t all have Buffets time or access or knowledge. | yump
08/3/2024 07:57 | Thanks for that. 313 is mentioned as a target price by him so that would be very handy if we can climb to that and pick up solid divi's along the way too. Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt

08/3/2024 07:00 | Tempus in The Times today is extremely positive with a buy rating. Can post screenshot if there's interest. | unastubbs
07/3/2024 23:12 | Yump - no spreadsheet needed when buying indicies ie global equity tracker funds. Just buy every month irrespective of price. Remember when it comes to trying to time the market there are only 2 types of individuals . . . those who can't time the market and those who don't know they can't time the market! | zac0_4
07/3/2024 22:50 | Tell BP shareholders that buybacks drive positive share price performance. 10 years ago BP's share price was £4.80. Over the 10 year period they have spent over $25bn buying back their shares. The share price today . . . £4.71. Share buybacks are a waste of time. To me they mean that a company has nothing better to spend its money on. No opportunities for further growth. I'd much prefer for excess cash to be reinvested to compound the value of the business and, as such, the share price. | zac0_4
