adejuk: I'm not rich in the afternoon. .LOL |
That takes some beating, dropping 10% from it's high this morning :( |
calm down net this morning you were rich. what appen? |
How many shares are there around for them to buy? |
5% is like a massive buyback in its own right... What will that do to the share price? |
Unbelievable! The Japs are going to take this over for bubkis. |
Buybacks only make sense if the business is trading below its intrinsic value, according to Buffett. If it is, everything being equal, shareholders should benefit. |
I'm content |
The problem is the Japenese buying 5% of the company makes people think the company is safe as housess.
So they sell hoping to buy back cheaper next week.. its the same people.
Its musical chairs. Sit down too slowly and you lose. |
BLIMEY Its not just the deal. They gain from the interest rate cut as they are large holders of gilts. The pension derisking market is worth 2 trillion |
Thank the lord for BATS |
Nine of my top 10 risers today are
HYB ITs Infra/renewables ITs Private Equity ITs
Only one stock in my top10 and that is a basket case |
Its starting to look like 'just another day at the office' rise. |
Topping up - great company, cheap as chips - excellent news. excellent valuation, just against the background of a falling market ... |
Looking at todays chart, it's like watching a plane crash play out - The fun though is whether it'll actually stay in the blue sky or end up underwater in the red.
Place yer bets.

Happy to add a few more here. Overall I think this deal should bode well for the share price and divi is safe as houses! |
Don't want to put a dampener on things but still a gap to fill here, one at 236/7 and one at 225 |
the world is full of hybristically ignorant c..ts |
Just bring back the UK tax credit on divis that Brown abolished The Aussies still have it and their pension funds own a huge amount of their stock market Wouldn't hold breath for that to happen never mind simply abolishing stamp duty |
Take any investment bank/PE house or mega tech firm and that applies to about half the workforce |
Selling of a small part of their business, the damage to profits won't be great It's dillutive to divi cover if the earnings yield it was sold at was greater than the divi yield Sell at a higher PE/lower earnings yield than the DY and buy back and you actually increase the divi cover |
Instead of bullying Pension Funds to prop up the UK Market, the Gov should be trying to incentivise individuals to invest in British companies along the lines of maybe something like an additional £20k pa British ISA.
Oh, hang on........ |
