Quiet on here. Not much to say I guess. Dawsons results were predictably poor and it looks like that pension fund is going to be a major headache.

Oooo exciting, another 100k snapped up by the scanwegians, err I mean company buyback.
How many more to go?

So T&D's gone at last.

Looks to be about £8-£8.5m plus another £5m to be realised from working capital.

Not bad I guess.

Now they just need to sort out the pension fund.

Asked what he wanted to do with the company, Gyllenhammar said it was "not Leeds that will do things in Dawson, it is the Dawson board and management team", and claimed there had been "confrontations" with shareholders and "discussions that have not been particularly constructive".

Interims out. A big increase in NTAV to 44.4p per share and NCA to 37.8p per share.

In theory, LSE Rules and Regs wouldn't allow them to do that as all 'significant' company information is supposed to be announced to the market as soon as it's available. Reality, however, means that this toothless organisation permits companies to do whatever takes their fancy.

I wouldn't be surprised if they wait until after Dawsons have disposed of their spinning division.

The announcement date of the Interim figures for the last six years respectively have been: 2 June (last year); 10 May; 10 May; 27 May; 19 May and 14 May ('03). On that basis, could we see something next week?

thanks for the Hartley comment.
mind now boggles why he endorsed the LDSG investment in the light of this quote ?
certainly there seemed to be no dissent at the time of the 2 LDSG appointees to the dwsn board last year.
of course its what 'we' LDSG holders have known to our cost for some years now.

Hartley said it appeared from another company where Gyllenhammar had major influence that it was run as "a private fiefdom", adding: "There doesn't actually seem to be much consciousness that you need managers to run these businesses. It (Dawson) is a fairly sizeable complex group, and it is clearly a public company."

the other directors at Dawsons don't like it, but who knows which way this will go

Some action at Dawsons. Leeds are trying to oust Mike Hartley.

IIRC Mike Hartley was GPG's man and also responsible for buying Dorma from them in a deal which looked to be in GPG's favour.

I think they got a mention on the Fool, that might be it.

In the old days you could always tell when news was imminent as somebody would buy 100k, but I guess it could be the company these days.

There's been a bit of small buying interest here these last few days which makes a nice change. Fingers crossed there's a reason behind it ...
