Say Leeds do full year earnings of 2p+ per share. H1 was approx 1.7p (after exceptionals).
But cash is 9p per share and net working capital 31p per share.
DWSN stake worth another 4p per share.

This is obviously stonking value but I guess would-be shareholders are unimpressed with how the 2 swedish lads have invested the cash so far. By investing in EET and DWSN they didnt exactly take full advantage of the bombed out valuations 12-18 months ago!

It looks like UNIQ is going to give the Pension Trustees 90% of the company to write off the pension deficit. Will DWSN come up with something similar but giving away less equity.

I guess we're just going to have to wait until December Des. If Hemmers can't achieve sustained profitability then surely LDSG have to think about a way of releasing some value from the business, given the amount of money tied up in it.

A word of caution. I was a bit disappointed with last week's Related Party RNS. Annual sales to that small chain fell from €382k to €328k. Ofcourse any read-through to sales as a whole would be a mistake but I would have been happier to see a 14% rise than a 14% fall.

I've got no idea tbh HP. I would hope for better than breakeven though. I wish they'd given us a trading update, they didn't even bother to reply to me.

Ive been buying some lately.
I hope you're right regarding 3p eps Arthur but Im guessing H2 around break-even given less favourable currency exchange rates.

Well done Arthur - keep up the good work LOL.

I'm hoping for very good things from Hemmers. Issues remain at DWSN. The Land is now worthless. The cash continues to sit there.

DSN has worked out well for you. As you may recall it was Evervision that put me off and that has now gone. But unfortunately for me the share price has more than doubled too :-/

Any thoughts on the fair value of INL ? I'm a recent buyer of 45k at 16.4p average but am clueless as to the uplift to expect from the portfolio. No idea what West Drayton is worth.

I emailed the company the other day to ask if they were going to issue a trading update as the FY is now ended, but haven't had a reply yet and they haven't issued one so I guess the answer is no!

Nothing much ever happens at Leeds. I reckon it's just punters realising how cheap this is.

There seems to have been a bit of buying of late especially in blocks of 10K.

Anything going on or just punters realising how cheap this company is ?

HP

I think it will have a negative effect since I presume they buy in dollars and sell in Euros.

How does the euro dollar exchange rate affect hemmer's profits. Current euro/dollar is 1.27049. It averaged about 1.4 for the interim result period when profits were strong. Are 2nd half profits going to be hit because of lower euro/dollar rate?

Good grief, my head's risen above the water line for the first time since sticking my toe in the water! What with FUL recently receiving a takeover offer, 2010 is turning out to be quite an enjoyable year in spite of the economic gloom and doom .... so far!

Btw Des, my holding is now up to 30k (when you next update the other thread).

Disappointing news about the land (and hopefully they'll now put this issue to bed) but great news at Hemmers. Gross margin is looking much better and the Chinese subsidiary is developing nicely.

The lack of stock to buy back and the debt reduction at Hemmers ought to lead to a return of much of the £2mill capital held centrally but obviously that is not going to happen :/

There's been lots of DWSN stock available these last few months and I suspect in due course we'll regret not making an offer for that company. DWSN + Hemmers would have made a nice textiles group instead of the bits & bobs situation we have now.

Bloody hell, look at those results. 1.8p eps for the first half!! Don't suppose it'll do much for the shareprice though.

DWSN could still prove a valuable asset if the pension legislation changes. Personally i'm not really in favour of screwing pensioners, but that doesn't mean it won't happen.

arthur.
the wild card here is hemmers !!!
should a trade buyer emerge, then given the current low valuation of ldsg they would make an offer for the entire group that the board would be compelled to announce and consider.
i imagine it would be a similar situation that arose with ' british mohair spinners' when cammelia upped the ante and forced pg into making a higher, and ultimately an agreed offer.
we live in hope !!!

Stockcube today serves me as a timely reminder about the risks of buying into small companies with dominant shareholders.

Still, this seems like a nice risk/reward situation, getting better the closer to the buyback price you're able to get in.

Wishful thinking cg. Nothing's going to happen until they've bought in all the stock they need to take Claesson up to 30%. Then they'll probably to take it private for 20p.

really, this company should be taken private.
-35 pence should secure it.
