Kodal Minerals* (KOD LN) – 0.062p, Mkt cap £7m – Sinohydro MoU offers potential to realise significant value

Kodal Minerals reported yesterday on the signing of an MoU with Sinohydro, part of Power China, a massive Chinese parastatal engineering and construction contractor.

Sinohydro is already working on a number of infrastructure projects in Mali with a technical team already visiting the Bougouni mine site

The Sinohydro team are working on their own review and will give input into the procurement and civil engineering.

Sinohydro will also assist in sourcing financing for the Project subject to the results of their review and will work with Suay Chin and Shandong Ruifu Lithium Industry Co Ltd, which produces lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide in China and is expected to take the Bougouni spodumene concentrate.

Bougouni Feasibility Study stats: The study envisages production of 220,000tpa of 6% spodumene concentrate over an initial 8.5 years

Average metallurgical recovery of 71% of contained lithium based on laboratory metallurgical recoveries of 75%

o Total Life of Mine will produce 1.94Mt of concentrate; and

o LOM revenue exceeding USD$1.4bn, with an initial concentrate sale price of $680/t based on operations commencing H2 2021, thereafter, increasing 2% year-on-year.

·Proposed 2mtpa processing plant utilising a conventional flotation circuit to maximise spodumene recovery:

o Estimated C1 cash costs of USD$431 per tonne concentrate (USD$466 including royalties and sustaining capital).

·Capex USD$117m est. plus contingency:

o Forecast payback period of 1.7 years;

o IRR of 58% (51% post tax).

·Pre-tax Project NPV7% of approximately USD$300m (NPV7% USD$200m post-tax).

·Opportunities to improve Project design through:

o Continued process plant reviews;

o Mine scheduling and infrastructure planning;

o Reducing initial capital expenditure.

Conclusion: Sinohydro’s involvement in the Bougouni project could enable the acceleration of financing and development and a rapid realisation of value for investors. The move indicates China is still looking to secure additional supplies of lithium concentrate for its expanding battery manufacturing.

Personally i want the down bit, it's going to take months for the feasibility report to be done, but it's very promising with the prospect of a financing deal, i imagine the sign off will cement any movement really, so i want to be before then.
Wouldn't be surprised if it drifts most of the gains.

Kodal Minerals PLC's (LON:KOD) Bernard Aylward speaks to Proactive's Andrew Scott after announcing a collaboration agreement with Chinese engineering firm Sinohydro to work on the company’s Bougouni lithium project in southern Mali. The two parties have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work together to develop the project.

Excellent. I don't think people realise what's just happened here yet but this was exactly what was needed and will hopefully allow Kodal and more importantly it's investors to relax on the finance front which is always a worry. I remember doing the asset calculations on this a few years back so will dig them out. The value is incredible. .30 is a steal and was back then. I've nearly doubled my money today already but it's not coming out. What is share price Angel target on this? Sorry am being lazy as it's probably on your site.
