Positive comment yesterday about KWS from Giles Hargreave, who holds it in the Marlborough Nano-Cap Growth Fund:

"KEYWORDS

Video games is a substantial and fast-growing market worth around $100bn – more than Hollywood. We bought Keywords Studios, which translates and culturally adapts video games for different geographical regions and genres, at its IPO in July 2013. As an international company with high profile clients such as Sony, Microsoft, Disney and Supercell, it provides the fund with exposure to this growth area without taking the risk of betting directly on individual games and franchises. The business has grown strongly over recent years and completed a string of enhancing acquisitions. We feel the company has a promising future as consolidates its position as one of the top suppliers to the industry."

It is beginning to look like price has overcome its recent weakness, with strength building now to push onto new highs? I would not be surprised to see further corporate news soon, to move things on. KWS does not typically hang around in that regard.

Jonathon Brown, who jointly runs the Invesco Perpetual UK Smaller Companies Investment Trust, has revealed the shares he is buying in the world after Brexit."

"An investment he described himself as ‘most excited’ about is Keyword Studios. Brown remarked that, ‘this is a company that provides outsourced services to the computer games industry. That is a secular growth industry, and outsourcing is becoming more popular.’

He added, ‘Keyword do a wide range of services, they translate the dialogue in the games into other languages, and they also make the settings for the games localised to the different markets. They also do some of the graphics, and as the artwork becomes more high resolution that is becoming more important.’

Brown added, ‘the company has expanded both organically and through acquisition. It has bought up a lot of boutiques in the market, and is a share we like a lot.’"

I made the mistake with this share in trading it in the past and have since come to my senses and realised that KWS is NOT a trading share it is simply a 'buy and hold'. And these types are rare beasts.

I just think it is one of those shares that you look back in years to come and just wish you had held it. The growth story is only just unfolding here so imo there is absolutely loads to go for.

ali, KWS has two recent historical support areas approx 573 and 553. The 553 co-incides with the recent breakaway gap up. I would guess a visit to the lower of the two support areas, if at all, would be an intraday phenomenon. I favour the 573 area as this is an approx 50% retrace of the previous rise, and is still within a hairs breadth of the 50sma.

As you have seen, the share price has been range-bound between 611 and 630 for 21 trading sessions and has broken down out of this range.

My guess is that recent increases in valuation have led to II's reducing their holdings of this share, as portfolio's have got out of balance. Others with more experience than me might know better.

I was lucky enough to sell near the top, and am looking for an entry point.

what do you mean bamboo- the share price has been down for a few days from 620- anyway do you think this is going to drift down further?

Results are already known to be terrific and should be out in the next 2-3 weeks (5th April last year). In which context the share price will hopefully bounce back quickly as it always has in the past.

Looks like the seller has a few more to go, so back to watching again.

Looks possible to me that this could re-test 575 ish, giving an op to get on board for anyone who missed out on the previous retrace.

Any investor who’s been around long enough will likely have an AIM horror story or 10 to tell. And although the LSE’s junior bourse certainly has its fair share of companies with a checkered past there are plenty of great companies listed there that are posting stellar results for investors willing to do due diligence.

Rapid yet sustainable growth
One of them is Keyword Studios (LSE: KWS), a global provider of back-office testing, localisation and quality control services to the video game industry. Much as some species of fish live a good life cleaning much larger fish, Keyword is growing rapidly by taking care of smallish but critical issues such as audio recording in foreign languages and bug testing that makers of AAA games find too time consuming or don’t have the skills for.

The value of the company’s services to bigger game makers is clear in the 30% rise in like-for-like sales it posted in the half year to June. And once you include the company’s frequent acquisitions (eight in 2016 alone). total sales jumped an even more impressive 77% year-on-year.

There’s no reason to believe this pace of acquisitions will slow anytime soon either as the industry is highly fragmented. These purchases also help drive organic growth as cross-selling opportunities are legion and game makers increasingly trust Keyword to take care of more and more behind-the-scenes tasks.

Best of all, the company is expanding rapidly but not doing so in willy-nilly. The acquisitions it is making are highly profitable and becoming more so as they’re integrated, which we see in action with the 177% rise in pre-tax profits in H1 2016. And a healthy balance sheet with €8m in net cash provides the firepower for further acquisitions in 2017. The company’s shares are pricey at 34 times forward earnings, but with a proven business model, rising sales and profits and a growing pile of cash, I reckon this is one AIM share with a bright future.
