I'd have thought that AI was just as likely to be beneficial to KWS if they can partly use it to reduce staff costs.

There are suggestions that Goldmans has created a short instrument to benefit from the adverse effects of artificial intelligence upon various companies. This has involved creating a short for Keywords Studio amongst others.

One makes the assumption that there is always some well considered logic behind share price moves.Over time thats probably true but short term,in a market dominated by algorithms, flighty proprietary traders and spreadbetters, its not clear exactly what drives daily share price moves.Take Volex for example.Until recently the shares were in the doldrums and fell to near a 12 month low.Update comes out and the shares have rallied 40% since.Clearly, some of the second line stocks are very badly researched nowadays especially since MIFID2 decimated research analyst ranks.KWS has always been fairly volatile.I presume some spurious or valid explanation for todays slump will be proffered in the next day or two.

Sold out ahead of figures primarily because the stock was near the top of its trading range.Equities are high risk currently.Good results are treated shabbily, bad results very badly. There’s nowhere to run.

Keywords Studios posted FY results for the year ended 31st December this morning. Group revenue was up 34.8% to €690.7m with organic revenue growth 21.8%. Adjusted profit before tax rose 30.2% to €112.0m, statutory EPS was up 36.3% to 61,54c. The balance sheet remains strong with net cash of €81.8m. The Group completed five acquisitions during the year for a total maximum consideration of €140 million, so more organic and acquisitive growth. Trading in 2023 has started well, the Group remains well-funded to continue to deliver on its value accretive acquisition strategy. Valuation looks a little unhelpful with forward PE ratio at 27.4x, share price also lacks near term momentum and has been trading sideways for over 2 years. KWS is a high growth, high profit Tech name and is well worth owning for the longer run, although there appears to be no particular rush. BUY...

“We are by far the largest player in our space, and yet remain at only a 6% share of a highly fragmented market. We believe that we have a significant opportunity to continue to take market share organically,.....221; - Bertrand Bodson, CEO.

And that market space is expanding too. So plenty of scope for considerable growth !

The recent share price retrace doesn't appear to accurately reflect the solid trading experience. Trading UpdateThe Group announced a trading update on 21 November 2022, in which we stated that our performance for the year would be ahead of market expectations, with revenue expected to be at least EUR675m (2021: EUR512m) and adjusted profit before tax (1) in excess of EUR110m (2021: EUR86m). The Board now expects revenue and adjusted profit before tax (1) to be marginally ahead of that guidance at c.EUR690m and c.EUR112m, respectively. This performance includes an expected Organic Revenue growth (2) rate for the second half of the year of approximately 22% (H1 2022: 21.7%, 2021: 19.0%), as the momentum experienced in H1 continued into the second half.
