23 June 2011 Drilling resumed at Seitaper¤ * Drilling programme at Seitaper¤ resumed * Extent of diamondiferous kimberlite at Seitaper¤ to be further tested * Further exploration in Finland based on Karelian and Rio Tinto data
Karelian Diamond Resources plc ("Karelian") (AIM: KDR, ESM: KDRI), is pleased to announce that it has resumed drilling on its Seitaper¤ diamondiferous kimberlite pipe, in the Kuhmo region of Finland.
The drilling at Seitaper¤ will consist of five or more drill holes. The objective is to further test the extent of the diamond-bearing kimberlite facies and the shape of the Seitaper¤ kimberlite pipe to a depth of approximately 100 metres.
The Seitaper¤ pipe, at 6.9 hectares, is the largest known kimberlite pipe in Finland. Previous drilling by the Company resulted in the recovery of 67 diamonds from 100kg including six macrodiamonds and 61 microdiamonds, some of which may be fragments of a larger diamond or diamonds which were present in the mantle xenoliths and broke apart during processing. These earlier findings suggest that there is potential for larger diamonds in Seitaper¤ with the majority of the kimberlite remaining untested.
The Company is also conducting exploration in other parts of Finland, based on the results of the first review and integration of the extensive database, including the results from over 53,000 till samples, which Rio Tinto has made available to the Company under the terms of the Confidentiality Agreement entered into with Karelian in July 2010.

:30Lithospheric diamond formation as a consequence of methane-rich volatile flooding: An example from diamondiferous eclogite xenoliths of the Karelian craton (Finland).

This is an important paper by an international team that adds further support to Prof Conroy’s view that the Finish side of the Karelian Craton is similar to the Russian side and has a similar potential for the discovery of workable diamond deposits. In particular it shows that there are strong similarities in the geochemistry between the Lahtojoki area and the Grib and Arkhangelsk pipes

The photographs of the micro-diamonds shown in Fig 2 are especially interesting and, although these are only around half a millimetre in diameter, they are mostly well formed, clear, and show very little sign of resorption indicating that they have survived the transport to the surface from the mantle, something that was also shown by the famous green diamond found recently in the glacial drift in the same area. That suggests that any larger stones will have behaved in a similar fashion and adds to the potential of the Lahtojoki deposit. The presence of the odd coloured stone is also interesting because these can sometimes command a premium on the diamond market, as for example the pink stones from Rio Tinto’s Argyle Mine.

There is also some very detailed information on the geochemistry of the garnets and other minerals associated with the Karelian kimberlite pipes that will be of great value to the diamond specialists in interpreting the minerals found in the KIM trains.

Perhaps more important than any of the technical aspects of this work, however, is the evidence it provides for the continued detailed help given to KDR by the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) and in particular by Dr Hugh O’Brien (who played a key part in the Rihiivaara discovery). Clearly GTK (and presumably the Finnish Government) are extremely supportive of the work by KDR and that, taken with the continued interest by Rio Tinto is an extremely positive factor for the future.

Just when things will take off is anyone’s guess – but I’m not selling

A little compilation on Kuhmo region/Riihivaara over last 2 years....... it's all there. How valuable will this turn out to be for KDR? I would suggest very!9 November 2015 RIO TINTO ANALYSIS IDENTIFIES HIGH CATEGORY RATING DIAMONDIFEROUS KIMBERLITE INDICATOR MINERALS * Samples Collected Close to Kimberlite Body Discovered by Karelian * Diamond Potential of Rihiivaara Area Confirmed Karelian Diamond Resources plc ("Karelian") (AIM: KDR, ESM: KDRI), is pleased to announce that high category rating diamondiferous kimberlite indicator minerals have been identified by Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration Limited ("Rio Tinto"), with whom the Company has a Confidentiality Agreement (with back in rights), in samples collected by Karelian. The samples were collected close to the kimberlite body discovered by the Company in the Rihiivaara area of the Kuhmo region of Finland. The identification of the diamondiferous kimberlite indicator minerals was made by Rio Tinto, in their Melbourne Laboratories using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), during tests carried out on samples provided by Karelian. The samples were collected within 100 metres of the kimberlite body discovered by Karelian in Rihiivaara. The presence of diamondiferous kimberlite indicator minerals together with the discovery nearby of the kimberlite body enhances the diamond potential of the area. The laboratory results from Rio Tinto on the major element data from the samples comprise of 7 Harzburgitic G10 Garnets including 4 that were classified as G10(D), 43 Lherzolite G9 Garnets and 24 G1 Eclogite grains. The presence of G10(D) Garnets which are low calcium chrome pyropes that form within the diamond stability field of the upper mantle, where the temperature and pressure is suitable for the formation of diamonds, is particularly encouraging. Professor Richard Conroy, Chairman commented: "These are truly excellent results that confirm the potential within the target area, in particular the presence of the G10(D) Garnets which have proven to be positive indicators of diamonds in the past. As a result we remain very confident that the hard work by both Rio Tinto and our team will lead to an important new discovery." 11 April 2016 KARELIAN DIAMOND RESOURCES INDICATOR MINERAL ANALYSIS INDICATES THAT THE RIIHIVAARA KIMBERLITE IS LIKELY TO BE DIAMONDIFEROUS. * A NUMBER OF GARNETS ANALYSED INDICATED THE KIMBERLITE HAD SAMPLED THE DIAMOND STABILITY FIELD * GEOTHERM PROSPECTIVE FOR DIAMONDS * KIMBERLITE HAS SAMPLED WELL INTO THE DIAMOND STABILITY FIELD _____________________________________________________________________________ Karelian Diamond Resources plc ("Karelian") (AIM: KDR, ESM: KDRI), is pleased to announce that analysis by Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration Limited ("Rio Tinto"), with whom the Company has a Confidentiality Agreement (with back in rights), on samples collected by Karelian geochemically show that the Riihivaara kimberlite will likely be diamondiferous. The garnet population analysed indicated diamond potential. The geotherm is prospective for diamonds and the kimberlite has sampled to a modelled depth of greater than 200km, within the diamond stability field. 355 garnet analyses on samples provided by Karelian from the Company's Riihivaara prospect in Finland were carried out by Rio Tinto in their Melbourne laboratories in Australia. The samples provided were from outcrop and till. The garnet analysis comprised kimberlite indicator methods of MLA (Mineral Liberation Analysis) screening followed by laser-ablation ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry) analysis. Lherzolitic ("G9") garnets were dominant but scattered high interest harzburgitic ("G10") garnets were also present. Some evidence of metasomatism was associated with the G9 and G10 populations. Eclogitic garnets, with restricted range in chemical composition of potential diamond-association, were reported from the outcrop sample. Garnet thermobarometry was also calculated to estimate the geotherm in the Riihivaara area. The results indicate that the geotherm is prospective for diamonds. The geotherm in Riihivaara is similar to that in the Kaavi-Kuopio kimberlite field in Finland and to kimberlite fields in Southern Africa. Professor Richard Conroy, Chairman commented: "The news that the Riihivaara kimberlite which we have discovered is likely to be diamondiferous is exciting news. It is very encouraging for our diamond exploration programme in Finland, which we believe has the potential to become a new diamond province - the first in Europe outside Russia" Karelian Diamond Resources plc ("Karelian" or "the Company") 31 January 2017 DIAMOND DISCOVERY IN FINLAND * Diamond Discovery in Till Sample in Eastern Finland * The Diamond is a Clear, Pale Green Dodecahedron and Measures 0.7 x 0.75 x 0.7 mm * High Concentrations Of Kimberlitic Indicator Minerals Discovered in Association Karelian Diamond Resources plc ("Karelian") (AIM: KDR, ESM: KDRI), is pleased to announce that it has received results from sampling undertaken by the Geological Survey of Finland ("GTK") on behalf of the Company. A diamond was discovered in one of seven samples from the Kuhmo region of Eastern Finland. The diamond is a clear, pale green dodecahedron and measures 0.7 x 0.75 x 0.7 mm. To put the rarity of this discovery in context, ODM Laboratory* has processed more than 50,000 exploration till samples and has recovered less than 10 naturally occurring diamonds. This is a very rare and significant discovery. This is significant because the diamond discovery allied with high concentrations of Kimberlitic Indicator Minerals ("KIMs") discovered in the area strongly suggest that a diamondiferous kimberlite is present. The KIMs include 13 purple to red peridotitic garnets (G9/10 Cr-pyrope), 3 orange mantle garnets, 2 Cr-diopside and 178 chromite grains in the 0.25 to 0.5 mm size range, plus 1 purple to red peridotitic garnet (G9/10 Cr-pyrope) and 6 chromite grains in the 0.5 to 1.0 mm size range. These samples will go for further analysis. *ODM Laboratory holds a Certificate of Authorization from the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and is used by diamond explorers in all parts of Canada and the world. During the Canadian diamond rush of the 1990s and early 2000s, ODM contributed to many kimberlite discoveries by processing and logging more than 50,000 samples. Professor Richard Conroy, Chairman, Karelian Diamond Resources plc commented: "This is very exciting news to find such a diamond in till which is a very rare event and makes me very excited about the potential of the area and the discovery of the source of this diamond." 15 February 2017 Karelian Diamond Resources plc ("Karelian" or "the Company") DIAMOND DISCOVERY: TECHNICAL REPORT * Diamond is a Dodecahedron 0.8mm in Diameter * Sparkling Clear Crystal: Colour Greenish * Extremely Rare Event Karelian Diamond Resources plc ("Karelian") (AIM: KDR, ESM: KDRI), is pleased to announce that it has received a technical report by the Geological Survey of Finland ("GTK") on its diamond discovery in Eastern Finland that was announced on 31 January 2017. The Report is by Dr Kari A. Kinnunen, a diamond specialist with the GTK, with additional comments by Dr Hugh O'Brien, senior diamond exploration geologist with the GTK. The stone, which is described by Dr Kinnunen as being an "excellent diamond", is 0.8mm in diameter, forming a 12-sided, curved and twinned dodecahedron. It is a sparkling clear crystal with clean faces. The colour is greenish. Surface textures (microdisks and hillocks) indicate slight resorption of the diamond during transport in the kimberlite magma from its ultimate source 150km or deeper in the Earth, to the Earth's surface and could indicate hypabyssal kimberlite-type magmatic rock. Dr. O'Brien comments "The discovery of a diamond in a till exploration sample is an extremely rare event. Such a significant result identifies this new target as a high priority for follow-up work." An image of the diamond which can be viewed on the Company website: http://www.kareliandiamondresources.com/ Professor Richard Conroy, Chairman, Karelian Diamond Resources plc commented: "I am delighted to receive the technical report from the GTK on, to quote Dr K Kinnunen, this excellent diamond. This is a stunning discovery." Karelian Diamond Resources plc ("Karelian" or "the Company") 16 March 2017 EXTENSION OF RIIHIVAARA KIMBERLITE BODY * 100 Metre Extension to the North West Shown by High Concentrations of Kimberlite Indicator Minerals In Till Samples * Up-Ice Samples Indicate that Riihivaara Kimberlite Body is Probable Source of the Kimberlite Indicator Minerals * Riihivaara Kimberlite Body Remains Open to North West, South East and to Depth Karelian Diamond Resources plc ("Karelian") (AIM: KDR, ESM: KDRI), is pleased to announce a 100 metre extension to the North West of the Riihivaara kimberlite body. The extension was indicated by the results of a series of till samples taken by the Geological Survey of Finland ("GTK") on behalf of the Company. Samples taken along trend to the North West of the known kimberlite body showed high concentrations of Kimberlite Indicator Minerals ("KIMs") indicating a further 100 metre North Western extension to the known 250 metre kimberlite body extent. The Riihivaara kimberlite body remains open in both directions along strike and to depth. The KIMs included 47 purple to red peridotitic garnets (G9/10 Cr-pyrope), 18 orange mantle garnets and 64 chromite grains, in the 0.25 to 0.5 mm size range; plus 2 purple to red peridotitic garnets (G9/10 Cr-pyrope), 4 orange mantle garnets and 5 chromite grains, in the 0.5 to 1.0 mm size range. The results of samples collected in an up-ice direction from the kimberlite body returned low counts of chromite grains indicating that the Riihivaara kimberlite body is the probable source of the KIMs. All samples will undergo further analysis by scanning electron microscopy to classify them. Professor Richard Conroy, Chairman, Karelian Diamond Resources plc commented: "This further extension of the Riihivaara kimberlite body taken in conjunction with the recent discovery of a diamond in a till sample adds to the diamond prospectivity of the Kuhmo region"

Hi stevehoops hope you managed to have a flutter on Bulgaria and get the 14/1 it is now a best priced 7/1 shot. The song will be performed live tonight in the 2nd Eurovision semi final BBC4 it will qualify of course but if you havnt already got on I would advise caution at 7/1 there are 2 hot favourites in the contest he has to beat Italy and Portugal and should another song attract strong support the fight for the places will be competitive with the bookies only paying 1/5 first 3 this year .
